Just finished watching this. Reminded me so much of the Quantum Of Solace movie. Only differences are, instead of water its food and the issues shown there are far too real. Its staring in our face everyday in the form of farmer suicides. The blatant lies spread by such MNCs! Its not just the people of India losing, the whole world will lose.Originally posted by sarbanoxley View Post

. This is what prince Charles(
) said about Monsanto: Prince Charles claimed that the issue of GM had become a 'global moral question' - and the time had come to end its unstoppable march.the truly appalling and tragic rate of small farmer suicides in India, stemming... from the failure of many GM crop varieties
Prince Charles is so distressed by the plight of the suicide farmers that he is setting up a charity, the Bhumi Vardaan Foundation, to help those affected and promote organic Indian crops instead of GM.
Cruelly, it's the young who are suffering most from the 'GM Genocide' - the very generation supposed to be lifted out of a life of hardship and misery by these 'magic seeds'.
Here in the suicide belt of India, the cost of the genetically modified future is murderously high.

Just watched thess docs:
1)
Some organization gave a camera to women (farmers) and told them to film the effects of GM crops this doc was filmed over a 3 year period :
Watch the whole doc here:
GMO Trilogy - Unnatural Selection (part 3 of 5)
2) The Yes Men Fix the World
The Yes Men Fix the World (2009)
The film consists of a several pranks on major corporations and governmental agencies that are performed by Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno (in real life Jacques Servin & Igor Vamos) who fancy themselves serious anti-globalization activists.
The two pose as executives from Exxon, Dow Chemical, Halliburton and the H.U.D. They give faux corporate interviews pretending to be DOW executives in which they supposedly announce setting up a $12 billion fund for the victims of the 1984 Bhopal disaster that killed 1,773 people. The BBC fell for this prank and aired the faux interview. This caused DOW's stock plummet.
The actual footage of them giving interview on BBC :

My rating : just Awesome

Agent Orange was by Monsanto? How are they getting away with all this? What scares me most is the transgenic nature of the plants that one gets using GM seeds. It effectively kills the soil to be made unusable for the conventional seeds and affects the traits of the conventional plants too. They either lose all the traits that are special to that variety or the plant loses all immunity against the most basic diseases. Result? Farmers seek comfort in GM seeds and enter the debt trap.Originally posted by sarbanoxley View PostAwesome analogy

The most recent battle on our shores is the tiff within our own government over use of BT Brinjal. Farmers are against it, activists are against it but the "scientists" in genetic engineering approval committee(GEAC) have given the thumbs up.
Check this out:Source: Jairam Ramesh locks horns with Pawar over Bt brinjal approval - Economy and Politics - livemint.comLike Bt cotton, transgenic brinjal contains a gene, artificially introduced into its genome, mainly from a soil bacterium called Bacillus thuringiensis. Though several institutions have various versions of Bt brinjal, the one closest to commercialization is the hybrid variety developed by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, University of Dharwad, under a free licence from the Maharashtra Hybrid Seeds Co. Ltd.
I very well remember seeing that company in the list of companies that Monsanto aquired and heard about it(mahyco) when the documentary showed about the plight of Vidarbha farmers. Even if the govt. doesn't approve its use how can they prevent it entering India through the black market? Our porous borders can me used to smuggle something worse than arms and ammunition.
