Thanks OF Sir and Sunil Ji for the words of encouragement. Currently I am only looking around and learning the new additions to my User CP. And will surely keep bugging you guys in case I need help. Here's hoping that I don't screw up too much in the initial days.

@Other guys Thanks for the wishes.

@RX100 bhaiya, I am only a Junior Noob, please keep the tests easy for now .

@hss , Enthusiastic, I guess there was such a thread in the past (even before I joined) but it was a venue for Moderator bashing, flaming and other OT instead of proper suggestions. I guess we could get that one started again if all of us promise to behave .
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

+1. Wanted to tell you this since the day you changed it. But now you being a moderator, one more reason to change it is ... There is a chance that your comments "MAY" be considered as biased because of this avatar.
(Well, this is what I felt. I may be wrong.)

                In a lighter vein.

Seems like all most of the mods run pulsars. Is that a criteria for becoming mod MG, Sunilg, AntzG and Samarth G. All pulsar owners. Very nice

Thanks guys for the wishes. I am a living proof that positive contribution and good behavior are always noticed on Xbhp. You all can contribute to Xbhp in your own manner too, by posting useful content, regulating and chilling a keyboard war or reporting it. Every good contribution is noticed as I saw in Mod Lounge.

After all, you all are moderators in a way, because you can moderate yourself, isn't it?

And to realize that 'sense of fairness and justice' is eventually subjective. No one can put a quantifiable measure to it. Which is why moderation here requires as much of the mind as the heart. And also why it is a 'responsibility'.

Over the past few months, it is not just that the core team's efforts have suffered from divided attention leading to an urgent need of added hands on the job. The real reason is the incessant and rapid increase in the volume of forum interactions. Increasing membership, an ever growing variety of two-wheelers and an easy access to the internet have led to a tremendous growth in on-line activity. And increasing volumes have always been a challenge to quality. Quality, which can range from ensuring adherence to forum etiquette to sifting the relevant from the unnecessary and also be about nipping potential disputes in the bud, remains the mainstay as well as the target for all moderation effort.

For starters you have the support of our xbhp brethren and direct access to the existing core team and mods for any help that you might need. In time you shall be the same for others that will follow your path. We collectively wish you the very best with this new responsibility.
Definitely sir, we'll both give it our best. In my personal life, I've been known to make more decisions by heart, but in Xbhp I'll definitely keep a balanced approach towards all the issues you mentioned in the 2nd para.

I just had a phone conversation with Sunil ji, and that helped me understand the Moderator Controls better. If there is any doubt, I'll certainly approach the seniors.

@ RX @ Rahul: As you must have seen, I took the feedback and went back to my old avatar. Just that its smaller now, for some unknown reason. Alright enough talk, let's get to work.

                        Congratulations to Samarth and Anant.

Its a thankless job honestly. You both have got this opportunity because you both deserve it.

Seeing both of you is like watching my favorite football team signing a 2 new players. You can imagine the expectation and prediction that every fan does about their new signings, well, I do have some expectations from you both.

                        All the best!

I love Samarth's gentle way of putting across his views and Anant's very good straight-forward,meaningful posts! Hope the sweet 'burden' of Moderator doesn't hamper them posting on topics as usual
