  • Using GPS System while on 2 Wheeler Ride

Nowadays, i travel a lot through my two wheeler. Sometimes, i do travel to new locations. Using GPS system in a car was not that difficult. But it's lot more harder to keep GPS system in hand and ride the vehicle. Please tell me whether i can get any stand for two wheeler. Any suggestions?

    Accessory Query Approved,

I suggest you get some good tank bags which have a transparent cover housing for such gadgetry. Otherwise, you can try some Do-it-yourself (DIY) project and if it succeeds, tell us in the DIY section.

And always remember: Riding Safe should be your first priority. Yes, even I use GPS, but I stop my bike and check out the route in advance on my mobile, which otherwise stays in my pocket only. This is much safer than trying to multitask while riding your bike.

Even if using GPS on a gadget stand, bag housing, etc. one should only glance once, just to confirm if the route is correct or not. That's it. No more than a 1-2 second glance is safe enough.

Not sure if anything is available in India, maybe in your cities grey market type markets.
An online search reveals a few
        LINK & LINK
These are for putting in phones. Or Did you mean a dedicated GPS system?
those are more easily available. I'm sure imported goods markets will have them.
but here is a page with a bunch of options and reviews - LINK

Either way, the fitting needs to be strong, it needs to be waterproof, and most importantly not easy to remove by a random person passing your bike while you wait at a traffic light. (phone holders come in many open clamp on models models which is not only not waterproof but also prone to easy theft of the device.

And like samarth said, even thinking about riding with something else in your hands other than the handlebars is asking for serious trouble. Please try not doing that. Our streets are too unpredictable for that sort of chance taking.

I use my android phone with a single earphone/mic, and use google navigation(as opposed to just maps). Phone stays in my pocket with directions coming in through the earphone.
        Chase it Down!!!

the gps in my android phone does the trick, usually to find my way to any preapproved preplanned destination i use google maps on my PC and then see the route first and write on piece of paper, the important landmarks, route and then use the local gps (i.e autowallas, shops, street walkers etc) to completed the stage by stage process by asking them for landmarks. IF you are on unplanned trip first check the gps for route and then keep it on in front pocket and on reaching turns or landmarks, stop and have a glance at your location i.e after driving for 2-3 kms stop check your route , confirm and then drive, if a straight road is shown then keep on driving for 5 kms until you come to landmark and then stop and check the route.

Have you tried the MapMyIndia stand ? Is it lockable/secured so that someone just can't snatch it while at traffic lights ?

Try the navigator tank bag from Rynox gear. Quality is decent and the company is reliable for online purchase.

The tank bag is designed to hold a gps navigator in a vertical position. You also have a small tank bag to carry other stuff. For a cost of 1900 it is good deal.

How to prevent cell phone from overheating and shutting down

I started using my cellphone recently for navigating purpose, I am using a tankbag to keep my cellphone and navigate. So recently i encountered a problem when the cellphone got shut down due to overheating.

The only solution i know is to keep it in jackets pocket and use voice instructions to navigate which can be heard over a bluetooth or wired headset. But what about visual route finder? Please post suggestions for this.

Use a handlebar mount. If you use it excessively, then get a USB charger fitted next to the mount. You will be sorted!

There are stands which come with USB charger fit on them
Just connect the wires and you're good to go

The RAM mounts seems good but they are crazily expensive for me...!

You'll find many cheaper options which do the same job. But don't blame me when your phone has fallen off along with the cheap mount
