Its time to not just worry but do soemthing abt it.
Friends & relatives of mine are suffering from asthma- major cause: air pollution (contribution of vehicles).
Millions die worlwide in third world countries because of polluted water that thse industries & cities drain into the water bodies.
Trekkers to the south pole have faced the brunt of exposure to a depleted ozone layer & seen glaciers melting in front of their eyes.
BTW, a huge ice Shelf actually broke away in antarctica as shown in the movie & it is a known phenomenon that water levels & temperatures are increasing all over the world. This has led to the development of various new diseases which affects thousands of innocent children worldwide, & closer home in India as well.
How long can we stay insensitive?..this attitude wud be like the Americans who needed the 9/11 attacks to know that the concerns of the world r there's as well...they thought their land cud never become a target of attack ( a world war hangover) ...they were complacent. We cant afford to be sitting on our bums & not doing our small bit that we can.
I plant trees every month in different parts of the city & gift plants to friends & family. My bike gets checked every 3 months for emissions & I make sure the engine has the cleanest fluids in it. I dont take plastic bags. I recycle paper & cans. I dont waste elctricity. etc etc...small things...I hope more ppl will be like Bunny & not just relapse into ignorant complacency.

      Its our responsibility. Period.
With great power, comes great responsibility- to man, machine and especially to mother nature.

It's not about being apathetic to the earth , it s about not taking media scares too seriously . There are genuince concerns , liek antibiotic resistant bacteria , the disappearnace of species , the mixing of species by human intervention , but let's not forget nature does some of these things itself as a means of evolution .

Many geniuince problems are being sorted ( vehicular pollution for example ) but many things cannot be avoded unless we make a firm decision . How many of you all are willing to do without TV , computers , cellphones , Reeboks , Nikes , Levisetc ? All these things too cause some pollution when manufactured - can you do without them ?

There are questions you need to ask before you say " lets' sop environmental pollution ."

If we all went keeping only needs in mind and not wants , there would never be progress . Progresss has a cost , it's the great minds that minimise the cost of progress .
Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue on.

My point sort of dude...reduce the damage as we make progress.
If u cant stop using computers atleast learn to recycle them well or dont keep changing computers, only upgrade them & recycle whats left of it. Shoes & clothes are one of the most widely reused & recycled products if ppl get to it ie. Mobiles- ppl change them faster than they change gears!!- I can do without one but for those guys who like to show off their latest toy & dispose off their old phones do have a look at the site I referred earlier.

It will tell u how to do ur little bit in ur daily life...take one tip everyday & then incorporate it in how u lead ur lives. This is how each one of us can help out in our normal course of our lives.
Let media say what they want to...if u walk the lanes of the places which r affected u will know that they r actually not doing enuf. But the fact is that over emphasisng something leads to depletion of its real effect, though some sort of propaganda is definetly needed. Leave alone those down the economic scale, our rich lalas & aunty-jis are just as poorly environmentally conscious & it is they, along with the children usually targeted, that need to be educated.

Larger issues include waste disposal, energy efficient buildings, eco friendly sources of enenrgy etc etc...as long as we live, polluton will never stop but it can definitely be reduced and quality of life can definitely be better, for us & for those to follow. And it can only happen if we start NOW!!!

With great power, comes great responsibility- to man, machine and especially to mother nature.

            read in todays newspaper...

some cranes (migratory birds) have deserted our Bharatpur Bird sanctuary, earlier it was a routine visit but now since last 2-3 yrs... they stopped coming here...!

theres also this man-nature tussle there Sachin...the haryana govt/water dept stopped supplying water to that sanctuary as also Sultanpur (near gurgaon), bot hheavens for migratory birds cos of non-payment of water bills...so basically the water is getting dirty & reduced & the birds try to find other plces...
The Siberian cranes have been very choosy...they used to come regualrly many years ago but as pollution increased their frquency decreased.
Talking abt birds, the cormorants were on the brink of extinction when the Gulf war broke out and oil spilled into the sea. Dodos got extinct cos of human practice of catching & eating them faster than they could multiply. Californian condors died due to increasing human habitation and number only some few hundreds. Hornbills are also ina few hundreds cos of teh same reason but in India & Nepal. tigers, rhinos, lions etc stories we all know...
              Man, o man.

                    a very nice thought bunny....
one more thing i would like to add its not the air pollution only....
the soil pollution which happens when we throw the polythene bags...the wafer packets.....
etc away is even more serious....so guys lets make an effort and try to put all these things in proper places.....
i hope u all will agree....
