dudes i want 2 purchase a pet dog of a cute breed. but i hav some problems. they r :-
    1) i go to college at morning 9 am to 3pm & i go to tuition from 5pm to 8pm & in the meanwhile no one stays at home as my parents go to office & at the rest of the time I stay at home.

So friends plz tell me whether is it advisable for me 2 bring home a dog or not. I am having summer holidays & if i bring a dog i would stay arnd 2 months with the dog only. Some pet store owners say that I can bring home a dog & can give food 2 it at the time when i am at home & can take it to walking at that time.

So plz suggest me & is there anyone here with the same problem as similar 2 mine & had brought a dog.

Sorry man, i strongly advise u not to get a puppy considering ur timings, If at all u bring in one and u dont spend enough time with it, the seperation anxiety can almost kill the puppy or the worst is becoming a biter!! Pls. beware of the pet store owners as they consider the puppies as living toys and pls. buy it from a good breeder! Do u know that puppies are to be fed 4 times a day for the first 6 months?? House breaking?? Potty Training??? Vaccination?? De-Worming?? There are lot's man! Pls. bring home only if time permits u!

I was keen to get a dog when I was in school/college, but my uncle who had 2 pomerians advised me strongly against it. Dogs need humans around, not like cats who are very independent. That uncle's family can't get out together because can't leave dogs alone at home!

My advise: Buy a fish tank! Fishes do not need humans as strongly as dogs, can survive 1-2 days without food. This is if at all you need something alive as pet.

canine temperament is given normally to avoid other types of infections which the dog may get when its a puppy, your veterinary can guide u more on this and always use vanguard vaccines as they are the best.

the booster and canine temperament are given to labradors evry year i dont know about other dogs

            hi madhav

i can suggest you to give the puppy first diet in morning at 6 am and then take it down for a loo breakaround 7 am and then u cn give food around 8am and thn take her for natures call before u leave, when u come home in the afternoon u can take it for a good long walk depending on the dogs capacity, give food once u come back and than when u come home at 8 u cn give food and take it for a break at 10 pm or 11pm. i would advise you its better if u can get a bit grown up puppy say around 4 or 5 months old as compared to too small puppies

i am saying u to take it out ths many times as puppies normally cant control their stools till the age of 9 months or so.

walks depend on which breed you choose if its a labrador or dobber man you can have a good walking partner with you

and again if one of your parents are there at home they can also take the dog for walks.

Make sure wherever you kep the dog there is a rough surface as the puppies legs need to be developed as smooth flooring of tiles can give them leg problems.

u can also put a mat which has rough texture or sacks where you keep it.

make sure you give enough time to it when you are at home or the pup can land in boredom

Its not as easy as you say. Dogs need humans around them esp in their puppy age. Once it transforms to a dog, they can become independent depending on how you bring them up. Another problem is, In their puppy age, they dont have control over their bladder and the pee and poop almost after every 15-20 minutes (experienced person here.). So again cleaning is an important part, else they catch infections fast. Being weak also, they can't move any objects by themselves. So god forbid if anything falls on them, all they can do is scream.. I seriously suggest you reconsider buying a puppy till you have proper time to give to it. Its a big responsibility.
A fact -- It takes more love to share the pillion seat, than to share the bed.

why dont u go for a fish tank as u say you and ur family members wont be at home through out the day and frankly keeping birds in cage when none is around is bad as i feel its like handcuffing your hands and legs and keep you next to your ride which you cant ride. you love freedom dont u think the birds also deserve it.

sorry if i hurt u but it was what i felt

+1 to what Shrinath has suggested. On top of that Madhav, I would even like to suggest a cat if possible, though Cats need people and love when kittens, but as they grow up they are quite independent.... but fish would be a good option as well

If you have your own house and if you are willing to take care of birds i can help you out. I would suggest keeping peach faced love birds they are very playful and they are fun birds. And if you have patients you can train them.

                          Chk this out .

                          • Having a Bird as a Pet is much more easiest option then having a Dog - cat or Fishes...

Dogs - Need Most Human Company - they always love to be with Humans, Maintenance increases relevant to the Breed you own and when they are un Pup Stage - more care needs to be given

Cats - Same as Dogs - but they are a bit of outer side as they do not obey to our commands and rome here ane ther - mostly they love to Scrap the Kitchen things

Fishes - Needs perioding Maintanance - needs to put food for Three times a day - Needs to replace the water periodically - not an loving Pet - we can have just as a showcase

Birds - Depends upon which bird you bye - it will be fruitfull to you - I own a parakeet and i love it very much - low in Cost for buying and also maintaining - Yes you can Scold me that im not letting it away - But to be frank i adopted this bird in a stage where its Leg was Broken and at the last stage of his Life....I bough him home - gave him all the medical treatments and now he has become almost a member of my family...
He roams here are there in my Home and tastes almost all the food that i eat....
It asks for only a cup of water and cup of Seeds and some fruits for to eat daily.....

                            Here is he.

                            • Hey thunder i agree to what u said and your bird is free to roam in your house but same is not the case with the birds we buy from the market and than it feels bad that we enjoy all the freedom and keep them in cages, if your bird has a understanding and faith on you than no matter what happens he will always be with you, but same can be the inverse also, while in case of fish its not the issue, as you can always go for a planted tank which is less in maintenance and again if you have a large aquarium lets say something like 3 feet long by 2 feet width than fishes can atleast swim and enjoy rather than the bird which is in cage.

It all depends upon the Attitude towards Pets...
                                Why We have Pets?
The Answer is an Companion other than an Human

You cant feel a fish by keeping in your hand and say Good Boy!!
You cant take your fish for a morning walk - a fish cant talk, cant bark, cant roam outside the tank etc etc etc - they are just a Visual Delight
Sorry if i have Hurted any Fish pet Owners....
But the fact is a fact - if any fish owner does the above things i will accept my words are wrong...

AFA Birds are Concerned it all depends on which bird you bye...you cant have a crow as a pet inside your Home...though i have a Pet crow outside my home - it always likes to Pie on my Bike though i give him food daily....

One of my friend is having a Budgie (Love Bird) as a Pet and he also lets it out of the cage - it never crosses the Windows though it has the Wings to do that...
A macaw, A Cockatoo, A Indian Ring Neck,,,these are most Friendly Pet Birds...They can Talk, they can Fly, they can Run, they are a very good friends if maintained properly....

Im not starting a war between Pet Owners - im just telling the advantages of owning a Pet Bird thats it... By the way i too wanna own a fish Tank --- but due to Lack of Dust free environment im not having it...
