Why not a Oly sytem[i agree it has a small sensor but then it also has better reach]? I have read some gr8 reviews of their lenses and quick AF.

    • i wud recommend to flex the budget a little and go for Nikon D-90 if planning for a Nikon system (I wud strongly recommend).

Even D60 is also a good buy. Have been reading excellent feedback from users.. Evident from the fireworks snaps by Psyco_98.

last weekend I happen to visit sony world. checked the A200. I was impressed with the pic quality with the 18-70mm lens, but the body is very bulky, heavy and unimpressive.

It feels very BIG and the shutter sound gives a shaky feel , as if some earthquake inside the camera took place. (Not Romantic like Nikon )

      • Im lookin at the canon 450d.

My current cam is a Sony DSC110 Point & Shoot. Im shooting with it for 12 months now. It clicks good quality snaps but there are not tooo many things tht you can do in it. The main problem is the only image format it supports is JPEG. The image quality reduces alot after processing on the PC.

The view finder is a great thing, but sometimes u feel while shooting tht it would be better if u had the manuverable LCD . Especially wen u have to hit the ground or jump high in the sky .

i also love the oly..specially the E 410 or 510.with the lenses they provide some quality stuff.but then again i see the lens availability issue.

to me when on a tight budget i will prefer the pentax K200D with the kit lens.the kit lens made by HOYA is the by far the most beautiful kit lens in comparison with others.including canon and nikon.

oly also is good.the availability is the issue.

read about some of the key feature of an SLR here at my older post

the superzooms like the fz18/fz28 and the h50 and all look good on paper for the specifications, but in slightly tough conditions they are not so good, like when the light does dim, ya cannot boost the ISO because of the resultant soup of noise.

as for the ?x zoom on a SLR, think of the canon system. The widest lens is 14mm. (leave out the fisheyes). The longest lens is a 1200mm (costs 99000 US$, is made to order). that makes it a 85x zoom. Happy :P

in the auto mode, the SLR's are as easy as any point and shoot, unless you cannot use an optical viewfinder. And in time critical shots, they are leagues ahead of the point and shoots whose slower autofocus and a few eons of shutter lag makes for a lot of missed moments.

                • I need some suggestion guys . I recently saw a good Minolta rokkor 58mm f1.2 also 50mm f1.4 which is a Minolta mount. Both lenses are around 30 yrs of age at very reasonable price. I am looking for Pentax screw mount (M42) or KA versions. Since only Olympus and pentax supports compatibility for older MF lenses. I checked the camera whether i can able to use MF. surprisingly its very easy to fine focus compared to fuji s6k. Split screen is awesome. Now DSLR bug bite me hard perhaps in future i may buy one . Whether there is converter available incase if i choose bodies like pentax and oly.
To poison you guys i also saw 300mm f4 tamron prime zoom around 2k price. slowly i am getting addicted to manual focus

                          • Real low light champ

I am suggesting my friend to buy panny LX3. The things that were put off is inadequate zoom . I am not pushing him to buy.Its his decision.
my question is LX3 dethroned ultimate low light champ fuji f30/f31fd?

The advantages of panny over f30
                            Fast lens f2.0
ultra wide angle 24mm perfect for indoor shot
                            equipped with IS.
Better IQ on par with f30

Sunday I checked the camera in Canon Pro showroom newly opened in bangalore..
                              I tried the camera with couple of lenses viz EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L , EF 10-22mm f/3.5 and the mighty 18-55mm .
Its very light (far lighter than 40D) . tried couple of shots of a chopper kept in the showroom..

couldn't make much of a feedback, but the 9 point AF with a big viewfinder was catchy (the deciding factor over 450D).

Image quality wise- well its a canon !..

Ofcourse these lenses are build to the highest quality and IQ is unmatched by the modern lenses. My wish list 50/58 f1.4 rokkor, smc takumar 85mm, helois 40, 85mm f1.7 and goes on.Russian lens like mir, Helios produces no CA, PF at any stop . Once you start reading these forums you will be hooked up and start searching for those lens
                                Comparison bet f1.2 and f1.4
