Yes i asked for 17-55/2.8 and not the 18-55 IS or non IS plastic lens... not to hurt or disappoint anyone, but i think the 18-55 is pretty crap, might be good for very basic starters though.
anything around 45k would be a very high price in my opinion...in US its easily available on store shevles at around 750.. online seems to be on higher side of 850-900."Be who you are, and be that well"

Ah damn! Yes, I also think he asked for the 17-55mm lens rather than the kit lens (18-55mm). I still remember when I went to get my Canon EOS 400D, I wanted to get the 17-55mm lens instead of the 18-55mm because the 17-55 is a fast lens (with fixed f2.8 aperture), but then the price just DID NOT fit in my budget. So, I thought it's better to get the IS (18-55) lens than over spend on something that I really couldn't afford at that point of time.Originally posted by suhail_kapoor View PostYes i asked for 17-55/2.8 and not the 18-55 IS or non IS plastic lens... not to hurt or disappoint anyone, but i think the 18-55 is pretty crap, might be good for very basic starters though.

If I can somehow sell off my 18-55mm IS lens for "some" value, I would love to get my hands on this one, for sure! F2.8 would really come in handy..Originally posted by Psycho_McCrazy View Postif it is 750 in US stores, it will be atleast 50-55 in India *proper canon reseller*

P.S: We don't get 2.8 apertures on ultra wide angle lenses, like the 10-22mm, do we? I ask because I have been contemplating on getting the 10-22mm as my wide angle lens, but would've loved a faster aperture for the same coverage (10-22mm)..
*Sigh*

thanks thinking of getiing one from the gray marketOriginally posted by Aryan View PostBuddy, I am not sure about others but I had got my lenses from gray market and they are working like a charm, no problems at all.
Most of my friends get their stuff from the gray market, and they do not generally have any kind of problems.Speak Less,Speak Wise!

It would help if you have a look at the image count; that way you can make sure that it hasn't been used prior to your purchase. Normally, when I go to purchase, say a lens from the gray market, I check for smudges on the glass and the general condition of the lens which gives me a fair bit of idea about the lens.Originally posted by haxor View Postthanks for your co-operation but can you tell me some guidelines....which shud be taken while buying a digicam especially from gray market
I am a pretty regular customer of this particular shop, hence, he makes sure that I get "good" stuff..

The 10-22 is an awesome lens. So light and feels just right on the XTi (and the 40D). Its beautiful. I've used it a couple of times now (my roommate has one). Its a must have for everyone.
Meanwhile, 55-250IS (held back from a 70-200 f/4L on purpose) + knockoff ET 60 hood, 430ex II, BG E3 grip are on their way to me. Scarily midway through the exam week
