Obviously I wud recommend that anytime..

AFAIK the price of D40 is around 21k and D60 is 32k..

If the price diff is marginal then go for the latest one. BUT this doesn't means that u'll be able to get drastically better shot in D60 than D40. I tried a D60 and thing did not seem to be much different.

@bprags- wassup about the f1.8 AF-S plan buddy. Lemme know once u get it. Wan to give it a shot on D40.
f1.4 buddy not f1.8. From whatever reviews that I have read so far, not impressed. The sigma 50 1.4 has got some awesome reviews, especially the bokeh it generates, it is suppose to be one of the best, but for portrait stuff the 85 1.4d is a legend .

And yeah it was first time with this camera so please excuse me if anything looks weird!!

              • so which is a better buy .. go for 2 D60s or get a 450D and a D60. Are they comparable? .. looking for a user's perspective.

The only drawback of the D60 is the lack of an AF motor. Is it way better than the D40x.

Why go for 2 similarly speced DSLRs anyway is what I don't understand.. It would be better if you get one D-SLR and get good lenses with the remianing moolah..

Why do you need 2 D60s? Or for that matter 2 cameras in the same price bracket? Well, IMO The 450D is better than the D60 in more ways than one.
The D60 can be compared with the 1000D.
And I don't know much about things on the Nikon side, however I've heard that the D60 isn't much of an upgrade from the D40x except for the sensor cleaning system. Everything else is the same. Or so I have heard

Doesn't matter. But that is what even I meant..Archibaby can instead spend the remaining 30Ks or so he saves, on getting a good quality lens!
                        :)

dada .. I need to get one for me and one as a gift for someone special. So I don't mind even if it is the same camera. Both of us are taking our first steps in serious photography. The 450D looks good. it's available for around 33K via ebay.
