try to format ur pc,,,after formating if this problem is continuing then its time for u to upgrade ur pc..which one do u use p4 or p3.dude there might be sum problem wid ur motherboard.

@Ketanr14 - it looks like ur motherboard small cell has conked off . but after changing it problem should have been solved .sunno why its continuing. problem is with system Bios . maybe reflashing it may help .

Well no need to upgrade sir.. I've sold this PC.. Bought a new laptop with C2D.. It's just that I dont want to hand over my pc to my friend with any prob in it.. That's why want to solve this prob.. It's a P4..

hey prakash im using ubuntu since 2005.hey any new guy who are pissed of by windows but dont need a headache of unix commands in linux can always go for ubuntu.easy,user friendly...dont need 2 install drivers.no virus...fast surfing r some features of ubuntu...u can visit my site.i have made this one for newbies of ubuntu..www.firsttimeubuntu.blogspot.com.any queries then ullcan leave a comment there...thanks

u need to use commands in ubuntu..infact on any linux system...without commands nothing will happen...if u dwonload any app directlyu form the website ..u have to compile it and run..so better to download it from the termina...for that u have to use commands
sudo apt-get install xyz

@ ceasar and all the above guys... Thanx for ur help.. I showed the system to an engineer who does chip level repair.. He said BIOS needs upgrade and also the diode on the board.. I was fine with it but he's charging me Rs. 750/- for it.. Anywez.. I have to do it as I can't just hand over my pc to my friend like this.. He's my best friend after all..


I need one morre help.. As I mentioned I've got my new lappy a few days ago.. It has come with McAfee anti virus but it's a 30 days free trial version. It'll ask me to upgrade/purchase the full version in a few days. My question is, which anti virus shud I go for? Some suggested me kaspersky.. Is it fine to used pirated version..? I mean i've been using a pirated version on my desktop for years now and no major prob.. But laptops are more prone to threats.. so....... Is avast antivirus a good one? I've been using it on my desktop and no major probs till date.. Kindly shed some light.. Thanx in advance..!

Go for Avast Antivirus.. its good & keep on Upgrading it..

if you want a light on resources AV then NOD32 4 is quite good . also use spybot s&d and also malwarebytes anti-malware [freeware] both are must on any Pc

vista sp2 frees up HD

hi.. have any one upgraded to vista-SP2, it freed up my HD upto 30gigs.. i wondered how come it can give that much space!!
googled and found it was the same with others who upgraded to sp2 and som blogs says it deletes old restore points and etc.. even though it deletes restorep points and temp files can it give that much space(30gigs)? can somebody comment on this?? how much a restore point takes in HD

just run the disk space cleanup tool..look for it in hard drive properties
if it teh restore points and hibernate files and temp files/cookies etc they will get freed u can be assured of a 2 gig release atleast depending on the type of your usage.
