Why is the oil filter not cleaned or replaced.

Its not time to change or replace oil filter. Will post DIY when doing and btw its my friends Bike

Level Marker on oil bottle? i used motul 3000 and no level marker on it...and nor do i see any on the bottle u have used...

Btw the white plug is also a type of oil filter...u should have cleaned it....i guess its the equivalent of centrifugal filter(i know it sounds stupid...centrifugal filter works on cenrifugal force and i see no such mechanism at this part but thats what the mechanic at SVC told me...members please confirm) which all pulsars have which can be accessed by opening clutch cover....i dunno if the NS has such kind of a centrifugal filter..

And oil filter is to be changed at every alternate service according to the bajaj manual...and for them oil change is to be done every alternate service(who are they kidding? )...so its kinda confusing to change oil filter everytime u do an oil change or extend it for every alternate service..

The Motul 3000 series oils are bottled in India. Those bottles dont have a level marker.
However the 5100, 7100, 300V series oils are imported and those bottles have level markers.

^^ yes bro it has.. Its in the left hand side of the bottle. Thin white strip eith levels marked on both sides.

Pulsar 200NS Engine Oil and Oil Filter Change(Better Version).

This is a better version of the Pulsar 200NS DIY Engine Oil and Oil Filter change...

Things you will need...

1)An 18mm socket wrench



2)8mm combination/box-ended wrench



3)Recommended Oil Filter



4)ENGINE OIL OF COURSE!

I recommend Motul.




5)A container to hold the oil that you are draining.







So lets begin;


First,locate your engine oil drain bolt (18mm bolt head).




Use your socket wrench and get the bolt loosened.



After you've loosened the bolt,it would be advisable to leave your Engine Oil Filling cap open,to facilitate the smooth draining of your old engine oil.



Now,loosen the oil drain bolt completely,and let your old oil flow out



WARNING:If you are changing your engine oil while your engine is HOT,your engine oil will be HOT too.Be careful!


After the above step,pull out the Magnetic strainer. It might be dirty(i.e you might find some metal filings stuck on it),so clean it carefully.





Now head over to the other side of your bike.

Locate your Oil Filter housing bolts,



Loosen and remove these bolts using your 8mm wrench.



Open the covering of the Oil filter housing,and remove your old Oil Filter.
NOTE: You might need a Needle-Nose Plier to remove the Oil Filter out.(I did not).




Put in your new Oil Filter,and close the Oil Filter housing.




Now head back to the other side of your bike again, and put back in the Magnetic strainer that you had removed and cleaned earlier. By now almost all of your old Engine Oil should be drained.



Tighten your Oil drain bolt.





Now,back to the other side of your bike again...

Fill in your new engine oil(~1.2-1.3 Liters) and close the Oil Filler Cap.

Start your engine,and let it idle for a few minutes.



Well,there you go!
You have now successfully changed your Engine Oil and Oil Filter.

Thanks for the detailed writeup and crisp pictures as well...
Could you please elaborate on cleaning the oil strainer.. I mean how did you clean it? Just by shaking it profusely or using a cloth and cleaning or using kerosene/diesel and letting it dry well before fixing the strainer back???

Hey! Glad you liked it.

About cleaning the magnetic strainer,I used a toothbrush and a magnet(to remove the metal filings). I did not use Kerosene or Diesel,it is not required as the strainer doesn't get that dirty. Be careful while you used the toothbrush though,you don't want to spoil your strainer,be gentle.

i) clean out the oil filter housing well .

ii) soak the new filter in fresh engine oil for sometime before fitting .

Also check if the Oil Filter 'O' Ring is ok if not you also need to replace that. Costs around 10 bucks or so.

As Pinaki said, clean the oil filter chamber with a clean cloth.

After pouring in 1.2 liters of oil, start the engine and idle for around 20-30 seconds so that the new oil reaches every corner of the engine and then wait for a few minutes and check the oil level through oil level window it should be between the min - max marker if not then top up by pouring in more oil till the required level is achieved.

If a centre main stand is installed the better or else ask a friend to hold your bike straight while you inspect the oil level.

Thanks for this awesume DIY, i might have missed the Magnetic Strainer if not for this thread.

Now my question is at what level oil should be in Oil Inspection window? with 1.2 litres of Oil,it didnt even reached middle of the Window. had to pour 200ml more so that it reaches half
