Re: Charge Your Bike/Car Batteries At Home

Instead of running the risk of damaging the charger inside the UPS , there are many 12 Volts 10~30 Amps stand alone SMPS units ranging from 600 to 2,000 which will be a safer option... I had previously used a PC SMPS converted for charging my Car battery, but I had since gone in for a 12 Volts 10 Amps Forward converter design unit which is serving me well for the past year....I bought it on E-Bay for 750/- and it also has a variable control by which the out put voltage can be adjusted between 11 to 13.8 Volts. 13.8 Volts is ideal for float charge of a 12 Volts Lead Acid Battery....The unit has output open short circuit and overload protection....The unit is small with 4 " X 7" and about 1.5 inches height.

This is a easy way of recharging and many DIY guys do it. I charged my unicorn battery with my computer UPS. All you need to know is the basics.

          Re: Avenger 220 Battery Charging

          Hey bro,

Great info. I really appreciate that!
Have faced the same a week before later i started browsing to troubleshoot that and had found this useful stuff with clear pictorial rep.

I carefully followed each steps you instructed and yes waited for 8 hrs too with more patience. Finally when i plug the cables to the terminals of battery, have not get the result like i expected. Still there is low bt indicator and couldn't start my bike. So fed up as i followed all the stuffs.

Thing i observed while connecting battery is when i connect +ve terminal after connecting -ve one, there was spark created. Don't know the reason. Don't know whether is that be the problem..

          Need someone to assist me.

          Thanks

            The sparking is normal.

I did a writeup on a DIY battery charger using an old discarded DC adapter here:

Since I published the blog posts on my dead motorcycle battery, I have received a couple of queries asking me what I used to charge my lead acid battery and where I bought it from. And after I told…

Re: Charge Your Bike/Car Batteries At Home

Installation of car and bike battery is not tough. But if we don't have knowledge about terminals(+ve or -ve) and layouts that's harmful for vehicles. Now days many online portals sell car or bike batteries at cheapest prices with free delivery & installation. Recently i bought battery for my car online from BatteryBhai.com. They provides me free delivery as well as installation. Their technician installed new battery in my car and take out old battery, he has complete tools for battery installation. So why take risk, order online and enjoy hassle free service.
