    Seriously dude?

Ok, so it's a crappy formatted post, but i don't see anything provocative in it. In fact both bikes' target audience is even mentioned. Not sure if this is a real example but does this mean a person can only talk about what bike he likes and not what he doesn't?

        Dear Mods,

Many new and old members sometimes post false rumors as news in order to gain attention on the forum. They often mention a time period and nothing happens by that period, because the news itself was false...
Their post sounds somewhat like this (fictional example):

Guys, I just came back after talking with a senior Yamaha official and I can confirm that YZF250R is on its way to India, by around October 2011. and in fact, it is being tested around roads and we should be seeing spy pics soon.
So, when by October or even by next year nothing happens, shouldn't action be taken against members who spread the info, specially if they're old members?

And one more thing, why are suggestion topics never approved? The world ain't perfect and neither is Xbhp. So, why not talk on the subject on the sites (or facebook if you prefer it that way)?
I recently suggested tieing up with IB website, but it never appeared?

+1 for an excellent initiative. Much needed intervention after a long time. Lingo and slang terms are unfortunately flooded in every aspect of xBhp, if people just were to just realize that what they're posting is of use for someone miles apart.

For an initiative like this, I guess the word needs to be spread. Moderators, why don't you guys make it visible in the front of xBhp webpage stating something as important message for all, so that it gets everyone's attention.

I feel, just an excellent thread like this has high chances of going unnoticed.

          Thanks!

          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

They do moderate such posts, they usually close threads until solid information is got about the launch. Till then you have the speculation thread. Also one of these 100 claims might turn out to be true hence it cannot be moderated.

A fine example would be when a old member (forgot his name) speculated the launch of a new RTR (hyperedge), it dint see the light of day until a good 4-6 months later, till then the thread was closed.

Xbhp did have a suggestion thread, but it turned out be a place for moderator bashing and stuff irrelevant to development of this site. And i dont think IBA, if that is what you are talking about, associates itself with other biking groups.

Older members keep telling younger members about minding their language, i dont find so many posts with slangs/lingo. New members obviously will post like that but then they usually stop after being pointed out.

There are only a handful of moderators but more than 100 or 1000 posts a day. Members like us should inform such erring members about forum rules. I've never seen anyone continue, if they do the moderators will act.

Julian, there is clearly a difference between criticism and opinion, often times things get messed up with both get intertwined, which ultimately results in biased views, coupled with erratic lingo/slang which is what Sunil ji was trying to say.

Indeed he has done it so crisply that that's exactly what's been going on. With new members popping up, all the while, they don't often have the conscience to what they do or what their posts do for that matter. So it's best too keep the biased thought ourselves and post what can be appreciated as a true review/thought etc.

It doesn't mean to praise any one brand he/she uses nor depreciate any other brand. xBhp is all about brotherhood and knowledge sharing, and it will be, and that's why moderators are there for, helping us all the way.

So I guess that answers your query

              Cheers!

Sometimes knowledge sharing cannot happen properly if you are too politically correct. As adults, we must respect each other's opinion even if we don't agree with it. Agreed that there will be some childish quarrels due to this. But thats what these quarrels are, childish. As long as the members cannot express their unbiased opinions freely without the fear of backlash, there can never be true knowledge sharing.

Finally, I believe that the sample #2 given by SunilG is more of a confused comment which will be ridiculed by the members even more. So it is in your own best interest to avoid forming 'confused' opinions.

                Cheers

Why does a Moderator writes a post when a member is given infraction??
Its ok to give them but why announce it on a thread?

I am a member of many webmaster forums and these things are private. So that only member and mods/admin could see them..
                  Admin, do think about it.

It's very logical to inform in public. Makes everyone else informed of the consequences.

What you see is just half of the picture. Moderators do talk to troubling members in private and try to talk it out.

The warning in public is given only when talking in private doesn't seem to work.

^^ If this is offensive and un-formatted please have a look at duke200 thread, ns200 thread, look at any of the speculation/new launch threads, a huge number of posts are completely OT, not even minutely relevant to the discussion, the quality of posts has gone down tremendously in the last few months, not only that, name-calling and disrespecting other members is becoming a common trend. I have been a silent spectator for quite some time now but have started reported these posts whenever I can, but I only end up with a bad taste myself. There was a thread related to road rage incidents and XBHPians condemning such acts to the core, but the temperament(aggressive and intolerant) that they exhibit on the forum makes me quite certain that they would behave very irresponsibly if they were to end up in these situations. I request mods to be very very strict in enforcing the forum rules. Please kick them out.

OT :Mods could start another thread "Gaali-Galauj and maar-dhaad" allow people to vent their anger and frustration there and not to pollute all the threads.

i was thinking the same , why don't create a bashing thread soley for bashing of brands for who like to put there supreme knowledge of bikes in each and every thread. whenever i visit any thread all i see is full argument on this bike is good that is good, quite a few times tried to convince ppl that all are good ..but now stopped it , let them enjoy there opinion.

all i know is a true biker will respect every bike on road be it a XL50 or mighty R1 .. respect is what makes us more bikers then commuters

Well, they should ! Also, I advise that the forum rules and etiquettes should be emphasized time and again, once in a week, can we have the rules displayed on the main page? On the signup form, make checkboxes against each of the rules, atleast people will have to read the rules before joining XHP, because i am sure, none of them have read it, they have simply accepted. There should be a provision of imposing temporary bans, something that prevents the user from posting for next 5 days or so. And these actions should be taken frequently. I am running scared these days, there is a whole bunch of over-informed teenagers on the forum, on each thread, waiting to belittle the opinion of others.
