Re: Announcement: Posts in the off-topic section won't add to your total post count

    exactly!

Number of post count doesn't really signify anything except that the level of interaction of a user with other xBhpians online (regardless of the contest of his posts), though it is not the only measure of a user's involvement.

So this change shouldn't (and WILL NOT) affect anybody except for whom the post count matters, and it is for them only.

Re: Announcement: Posts in the off-topic section won't add to your total post count

This is a welcome change. I think this should have been implemented from the beginning. I am an active member for many sports and other technical forums, and there it is clearly mentioned in the "Off topic thread - like" sections that the posts here wont increase your post count. This is not a new change, atleast for me.

Posts in the Off Topic section doesnt add any value to the forum, these actions by forum owner and moderators are thoroughly justified.

And about keeping the forum clean and away from the OT replies, use "Report!" button. Our forum creator and developer are kind enough to provide that button. Understanding is mutual, as we want our mods to be understanding and helping to us, we should help and understand them with the small small things that are already provided.

PS: To Mods, Forum Developers - When are you guys gonna fix the issue with the ratings? You move your cursor on the stars near the thread it doesnt show the rating but it shows the content of first post. Please get this one fixed ASAP, as it doesnt look good and it blows away whole concept of rating the thread, as we dont know how much point each thread has. I raised this concern with the screen shot when our forum changed its look, it is still not being addressed or not even single update was provided.

As far as i could understand the point raised by you, the forum shows a few lines from the content of the first post you do the hover the cursor over the stars.

And this is exactly what is supposed to happen. Could you please give me an example of any other vBulletin forum to support what you are trying to say.

          regards

Re: Announcement: Posts in the off-topic section won't add to your total post count

The Auto merge feature is a Welcome one.....About post count, I do not think any member seriously bothers if anyone has 1 or 10,000 posts....The core content of the posts establish The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.. In my reserved opinion the post count may tell a newbie if a member had been in Xbhp for some time or not, but soon the content of the posts will determine the usefulness of the member's knowledge, and willingness to share.
So I think worrying about post count, and how preference is allocated will not change members view .
