Re: Best bike for long distance(single day)
I vote for Bullet.. One can modify a d bigger seat in classic and enjoy
Have been as a pillion on FZ and my ass burned to the core in just 200km ride.. May be the front seat offers much better posture, but not a pillion one..Proud Owner of Classic Chrome Black (Aug 2012) http://d2gt3es0c0q191.cloudfront.net.../001_smile.gif

Re: Best bike for long distance(single day)
my vote goes to BULLET STANDARD
it has more maintanence than others and dont offer tubeless tyres or disc brakes but it can sustain 80-90 with ease. And at end of the day you won't feel any tiredness.

Re: Best bike for long distance(single day)
Remove fz, fazer, r15,pulsar 150,Rtr 160 from the list ,as for the ease of munching all day miles ,these bikes are highly underpowered ( please don't come at me ,I know a person can ride all day even on a moped ,so it's my opinion to do 100`s all day without a fuss with bike capability)Originally posted by accuengineer View PostJust though of this survey. Which is the best bike for long distance travel in a single day.
1. Yamaha Fz-s/fazer
2. RE Bullet 350/500
3. Pulsar 150/180
4. Pulsar 200NS/220
5. Yamaha R15 v2
6. Apache RTR 160/180
7. Avenger
8. RE thunderbird
Now with other left options ,
Bullet ,the king of road ,on highways ,when cars will cross you around on triple speeds, bullet won't fickle a bit ,thanks to weight and its quite comfortable too...
BEST COMFORTABLE BIKE IS AVENGER. .
third I will choose is 220
fourth NS
then p180 ,rtr 180,
(FYI even after owning a NS and hating the old tech RE , I'm giving my piece of fair judgement)

Re: Best bike for long distance(single day)
Please see what thread says ..best bike for long distance ,for that my friend yes these fz, fazers etc are underpowered, they are good but lacks those extra horsepower which is needed on highways ,can you ride your fazer on 110+ all day ..? Will it feel like a normal task for your bike..? No .
Regarding cruising capabilities, I've done Delhi to agra on a scooty, ns, r15v2,duke, cbr and many cars .and if someone ask ,I enjoyed time equal on the 7bhp Scooty to 25bhp dukes and cbrs,
I'm not saying that these bikes are bad or something ,I just gave my fair share of opinion ,even after owning a NS and hating RE's ,I still accept bullt (bullet) is highway king .love your bike and accept its limits.

Re: Best bike for long distance(single day)
Very true my friend anuj but your statement sometimes hurt others sentiments when you keep saying all other bikes are under powered. Of course I can cruise all day long on my bike and I won't be tired its the passion that keeps on going. Just as you mentioned you went on a long distance tour on your moped. Am saying this cause this would be the second time you say all these bikes are under powered. Never underestimate even an ant cause it too can bring down a bull to its knees.
Cheers

Re: Best bike for long distance(single day)
Sir it's just a debate for best bike in Indian highway scenario, which permits speeds from 80-140km/hr. And 150cc bikes are good up to 75-80 km/hr to go smooth as butter.that's why I said lack of power.Originally posted by BENOY.NAIR76 View PostVery true my friend anuj but your statement sometimes hurt others sentiments when you keep saying all other bikes are under powered. If we were talking about those fantastic European and American state ways ,then all these ns and dukes are underpowered.
So think as per situation, I wasnt doing any insult or something ,as these 150 cc bikes are the Angels which taught me how to ride.

Re: Best bike for long distance(single day)
My vote goes for rtr160, i have toured for 550 kms in 8 hrs on my apache it feels so relaxed and calm in highways. As most highways are subways & hilly in our region this bike make it easy to cornering and overtaking due to its light weight and ergonomics. So my vote goes for RTR160.

Re: Best bike for long distance(single day)
This depends upon the road you are doing long distance .
Two lane - 200NS (speeds must be well below 80)
Four lane highway - at least 250+ ( I have a 220 its quite boring to ride looonnngg distance )
Hills - zma R ( speed + handling )
Over all Karizma is the most capable machine minus boredom.

Re: Best bike for long distance(single day)
Hey friends, its almost next to impossible to define a 'best bike to ride in indian roads'. Coz, everyone's priorities and criterias are different, viz. mileage, comfort, sustainability of bike, sustainability of the rider on a bike, aerodynamics, road conditions, power of bike, ergonomics (like I), favouritism of product and/or manufacturer, etc.. there are many to count on. But check few facts: one of our legendary bikers of xbhp, 'Ken da' has drove many bikes on many road trips. He also rode yamaha R1 at a speed of more than 170 kmph, but few riders cant sit in that posture for long hours. If you see perfect ergonomics, you might not gain higher speed, due to lack of modest aerodynamic. If you see power, let me explain, many of my friends are from Bullet clubs, but when they go on long road trips as a larger group, they sub divide themselves as small groups, few ride @110 kmph, few @ 80 kmph and few @ 60 kmph. If you see the sustainability of rider, you might have read a thread in which a very elderly rider had done a leh-ladakh trip on a 100cc bike from south. I also know a small group from jaipur (they are not part of any such biking sites) who covered many places in india including leh-ladakh in their bajaj and vespa scooters, that too more than 6 years ago. So its completely relative and not exclusive. If I own a discoverer and have a will to ride then i will go on road trips on the same bike instead of investing other higher price bike. If I own a karizma, i will not go for a CBR250R, I will go on with karizma. If I have a bullet, I will not wait to buy a 1000cc bike to have a road trip, so on so forth. Hence, i would like to say that, we cannot fix certain parameters to judge a best bike on indian roads for touring purpose. But one thing I can certainly say, its not the bike which takes us the maximum distance in a day, but its the rider who rides the bike for a maximum distance in a day. An 80cc two wheeler also can travel 400 km in a day, but a rider on 1000cc bike may need rest after mere 250 kms. Its all depends on the rider, how much capability he/she has to ride.
