At 17. my dad wont allow before that. Steeds were Bajaj Chekat and briefly Uncle's RX100. Taught me when I was going to be 18, just before going for a license. I will do the same with my son/daughter.

Twelve years on HH Splendour. Popped my first wheelie after three days (my mistake ofcourse) due to over racing the engine and disengaging the clutch lever in a hurry and finally ended up hurting my leg on the kick lever. Memories

      Change gears and race ahead!!

I was around 18 when I learned to ride a bike. It was Hero Honda Splendor but then I never drove in high traffic roads... I was sort of afraid of riding in b2b traffic. Then I started riding my cousin's Apache RTR 160 in moderate to high traffic when I was 20.

14 ... just the Vespa around the house or the street in front at best. But it was mostly the Kinetic until I got the Pulsar 150 in 2003 while my family insisted that i get a Splendor or Passion.

Learned alone when i was 16 on a bike owned by my uncle (hero honda passion back then). All i knew was that i need to cordinate the clutch/accelerator to get it going. Crashed a few minutes later when i braked hard in gravel. (thankfully nobody came to know about this except a few random kids who were around)

started managing the handle of Bullet the first ever 2 engined 2 wheeler i ever touched at 9.
uncle used to make me sit near tank and i used to control the handle..

started with priya 3 gear and luna TFR 70 cc split seat at 14 years old.
then moved to rx100 when i turned 15
then a cbz (classic) when i turned 17
back to bullet 1974 model when i turned 21
and then cbr 250 when i turned 26.

and i still have all the 2 wheels with me till date in mint condition running proud...

Had ridden bycycles since childhood, so the fantasy and hooliganism never went off...

At Around 13, my dad had bought a standby Enfield exlorer (a 50 cc bike).. the keys i used to steel during noon and go for short spin. Got beaten for than and he sold that bike.
A few months later after my mum's perusal got a TVS Champ which lasted a couple of years. Was fun(used to do wheelies on that)...

First memory of riding a proper bike was a 5 speed rxg with a 175 cc bore attached to it, left the clutch and the wheel popped and it was an immediate fall. Post which, for a while got made fun off and poked at for being a moron. Learnt a bit during occasional rides with a friend as a pillion on suzuki max 100.

First proper gear bike solo ride was after a drunken game (was the only one not drunk) around 16 when i had to drop a friend off very far off. Took my friend's keys in musturing all the confidence to drop him some 20 kms away at 11 pm. That was the first ride in a full "D" ready race yamaha RXG bike. They didn't realize for much longer it was me who had taken the bike, so a search party followed on sooner :-)

Around 17 got suzuki fiero which i used to ride to college, which got passed on to my brother before being sold just a few years back.

A year later when i was about 18, with my pocket money and cash from odd programming jobs bought a RD 350 (LT version i think), did some modifications. Money was hard to comeby, so anyone who wanted a ride had to fill her up for 300 those days. The bike got parked at my friend's mechanic shed at nights. Nopes my parents didn't know.

Then off to australia when i was 19, picked an ancient BMW shaft driven k100 in 2002, followed by dec 2013 Hornet 919 and later in 2004 nov/ dec CBR 1000 rr.

2007 all rides came to an end. (2006 year end accident + moving to india), since then haven't ridden motorcycles atall till about a month back. My story in short

I learnt to ride a bike at 21 on a Yamaha libero. From then I have been riding that bike and still use it. And have pulsar 200ns for longer rides.

Interesting thing I remember, is back when I learnt how to ride and applied for license; my Rto test was fun. As two wheeler applicants are supposed to draw 8, I did a lot of practice. And when I went for the test, the inspector was sitting in the far corner under a big umbrella(As it was noon and 45deg) covered by a number of "agents". Someone asked me to ride, that too in an open ground and I was riding with no one watching . And all I know was I got the license, probably even before the test. But on my way to exit I entered the 8 circuit at Rto, drew a complete 8 and went through the gates, with people looking at me surprised.

                              YOU FIND YOURSELF!

I learnt to ride when I was 11, on abajaj chetak, me standing in the free space and dad behind me. By 13, I would just park the chetak everywhere.

Bicycles? I don't even remember. I should've been 6 when I was taught to ride a hero JET. And since then, the wheeels never stopped rolling until I was 21.
I meditate as I ride to find a place to sit and meditate.
