  • Gear and RPM correlation

    Hi bikers!
I am new to the world of biking. Just got my Honda unicorn dazzler today. The riding experience has been good so far (a day that is!). I am not completely new to riding a bike though, as I've used my bro's pulsar a few times. But that would still make me an amateur.

When I did my test drive of dazzler last week, I was immediately impressed by the incredible smoothness of the bike. It hardly made any sound, the clutch was "buttery" and overall feeling on the bike was of comfort and smoothness. However, I didn't ride long that day and didn't go beyond 3rd gear.

But when I got my new bike today and I rode it, I felt more like riding my bro's pulsar which is rough, makes a little sound, and the gear was quite tight. I believe my bike will settle down to being more smoother after my first servicing is done.

In addition to that, I believe my bike must be feeling like that also because of my ignorance about the proper correlation between RPM and gears. I just change the gears according to my own "feel" and "judgment". But I want to learn at what RPM exactly I should switch to a corresponding gear so as to make sure that my riding experience is smooth and my bike never faces the damage of unskilled riding.

So could the experienced bikers (preferably of Unicorn, dazzler) guide me on how and when to switch which gear?

    Thank you.

Dont overthink. Just ride your bike and eventually, you;ll get the hang of it.

mostly i change the gear on my own judgements. But the recommended changing time is when the rpm reaches in between 3k-4k

be a wing rider you will get the pulse of your bike soon no wories. You will find that in user manual , RPM limits for each gear.
on 4 wheels u feel the speed after a crash, 2 wheelers are much more advanced

In some bike manuals it is given while in some manuals it is not.

I've Honda unicorn Cb-150, I riding on it about a Year, there is no difference in engine of honda unicorn and dazzle.
Just feel your engine pulse and change gear
Normally 3k to 4k is best for changing gear
always change your gear below 5k RPM in racing too
