    Help:Powerful headlamps for my P200

    Hi guys,

    Nice to see Xbhp up and running again.

    I have found the headlamps of my P200 pretty weak and night riding has been a bit of a pain with them. The next best option was a rewound coil. But that was out of my requirement, since I have seen a few friends of mine burn up their newly wound coils. Many of them suggested me the coil being used in the avenger - the 55/60 one. I thought it was a safe option and i suppose the RR unit would be pretty easy to fetch too. Couple this with a decent Philips55/60 lamps and night riding should be much more fun! Now I need help regarding where can I get the avenger alternator and the RR unit. Would this be available at Bajaj spares? And what lamp would be the best to use. I'm not really a fan of the Whitish/blue light thats been doing the rounds. But if i can find a powerful Philips lamp (or Osram/Halonix) I really dont mind using even a white one. I'v heard the OSram night breaker is pretty good,but then it comes in a pair and costs 1800 Your advice please.

    Well, you can also go for a magnetic hi-lo HID lamp. I dont think there would be any other lamp as bright as compared to an HID unit. The cost would be a bit higher at abt 3000-3500 for a pair.

      I am not really a big fan of HID. I would prefer using a regular bulb. Moreover I could finish the deal in about 1.5k. And i don't really want it to be extra bright and powerful to create a glare for the oncoming traffic. Headlights as powerful as a car would do the job.

      PS: I'm surprised to hardly see any posts in this topic! We'll I cant help saying the server crash has actually created a little vacuum.

        I have got the same done on my p200 and the lighiting is much better than before.
        Get the stator assembly of an avenger 180 dtsi (Old model) from kivraj which will cost you aprox 550 rs and an halonix normal buld 55/60 bulb for 100 rs.

          Don't buy the full stator assembly kit (magneto assebly as well as coil) buy only the coil (part no. DV111005).
          The only modification required on my bike was the neutral light connection had to be modified.

            How long has it been since you replaced the coil? I heard that the battery may suffer after sometime since your Regulator & Rectifier unit has not been replaced. If there has not been a problem with your battery then I wont bother replacing the RR unit.IF your using a 55/60 alternator and a 35/35 RR unit how will they match in terms of regulation of current? What do you suggest?

            Also, what went wrong with your neutral light?

              For bulb I would suggest that you look for Philips Vision Plus 55/60 W 12 V. It is available in single packing for say 300/-.
              It is much better than Halonix 55/60. I have them in my both pulsar 150s.

                @silver_falcon_46 won't repeat what others have said above...but are the stock head lamps weak?? i think you should better check with the alignment before going for a change!

                  @vistaboy: thanks man. I was eyeing one of those.Does it produce too much of that white light?

                  @shivam: alignment and everything else is perfect. I'm not happy on the highway while riding at nights. just need some more brightness,thats all.

                    but falcon, why not HID? takes less power while running, white bright light. i got one and it didnt give me any problems till now. and btw, i got a H7 with a heat sink.
                    but yeah, what Chetan mentions is the cheap and best fit...

                      The reasons are:
                      1) More than Twice the cost.
                      2) Don't know about long term reliability though I'm sure the lights are super powerful.
                      3) I don't really need a headlight thats that powerful.

                        agree mate... its expensive.
                        i paid 7k for mine! but its been more than a year of running without problems..

                          VEry useful info man. Even i'm looking to change my headlight. Currently using my dads car lights. MICO 55/60W

                            Hi Silver,

                            You can get the avenger coil at Khiviraj motors, musuem road.

                            Also you can use the osram silver star which would cost around 150 bucks per bulb

                              7k is way too much

                              @krishna: How do you rate the Osram silver star? Is it too much of white light? are they better than the Philips series? Any idea about the RR unit I was talking about?
