just don't have any clue...I was getting on the road from the wide sideways...after coming out of one shop, I hopped on & started the engine...saw the road on my back, not much traffic is moving...in the front, a little distance away some ambassadors are parked along the road-side, and my exit-path was from behind them, onto the road. The moment I was clear of the back of the car, was accl. 30+kmph with eyes on the road, and was about to come onto the road, from the left eye corner, I felt a fast moving thing towards me...yes, one pulsar was coming in the wrong side of the road and at a speed of 40+ kmph...there were fine layer of dust and sand on the sideways...the moment I saw the bike is close to me, I put on sudden brake, the front shook without much grip, and I felt the hit with other bike (though he also applied brake) from my left side...upside is, it happened in very short time & in a span of few feet, but I escaped unhurt...downside, the front fairing of my P220 FI got smashed...I gave it to the Bajaj service centre...I am already missing it badly...things went wrong, but if it's a common problem on our roads, how best to tackle it? put your thoughts...let me learn...

Guys...it's just happened to me...I crashed...a pulsar hit it from blind spot...

@Jonny - Good that you're unhurt; BTW, I'd be interested to know what happened to the other guy & the reactions. He did come in the wrong way right? So did you file a complaint or something?Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

@aargee: the guy is a local and he has got few scratches on his bike's right side...I was shocked to see my bike's condition...he left in that jiffy...plus I still don't manage the language, and was shouting at him in English...he didn't understand a bit...no FIR/complaint was in my mind...it happened between Tambaram bus stop & MEPZ...

@jd :- it was not exactly an intersection...let's say the cars are parallel to the road and parked, I'm coming from behind them at an angle of 60deg...my vision is on the road in that angle...the other bike came from my left side & hit, when my bike is still not on the usable-part-of-the-road...but you r right...at least I would carefully watch over & stop/slow down to 10kmph even, when such blind spots come, in future...

Not knowing local language will not prevent one from filing a case; but if you ask me, if filing a case will help, I'd say you make an unnecessary headache for him. He'll be dragged to court at some inconvenient time & day & asked to pay some Rs 100-200; if the cops at junction don't cooperate...call 100 or worst case, call any xBhpian!!!Originally posted by JonnyRider View Post@aargee: the guy is a local and...Tambaram bus stop & MEPZ...
Anyway, I'd also agree to the point what JD says that, one should be more careful as the road is full of morons. Anyway, here the mistake is 100% on the other moron, but why should you suffer? You should've made that guy's life a little miserable. Atleast pulled out your cellphone, taken some pics, make matter worse, switch on recorder & start talking & ask him questions to the other guy very calmly.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Which world are we in here ? The perfect one ? No offense here but how many cases have you filed buddy ? First of all, no cop wants to get an FIR filled. It's just a waste of time for him.Originally posted by aargee View PostNot knowing local language will not prevent one from filing a case; but if you ask me, if filing a case will help, I'd say you make an unnecessary headache for him. Secondly, if he does file an FIR, the cop is definitely gonna make more money, most probably from you too.
Third, call 100 or worst case, call any Xbhpian ? I fail to understand how we can help when the police won't, unless some of us here act as contract killers or local ruffians.
And creating a scene can be very hazardous for someone who does not know the local language. All the local has to do, is to tell all others he abused some leader there, and the other guy will not even have a chance to explain.
And dear JohnnyRider, try to come to a halt when you encounter a blind spot.I rode for about 3 years on those roads without any accidents.Simple rule being, respect the road and the bigger vehicles and slow down as soon as you sense danger.People go wrong side all around the suburbs cause the police there hardly fines anyone.Sorry for your bike.Ride Safe :)

Chennai, quite different from other parts of India...Originally posted by anants_220 View PostWhich world are we in here ?
One so far, against a guy who did a negligent riding due to which I'd a fall. The FIR is registered. Would you like to see a copy? BTW, have you filed any?Originally posted by anants_220 View PostNo offense here but how many cases have you filed buddy ?
Well, may be, then why're they employed?Originally posted by anants_220 View PostFirst of all, no cop wants to get an FIR filled. It's just a waste of time for him.
Can I prove you wrong? Come to Chennai. Bet you beer to dollar. Its all in how you approach the cops, how you speak & how you present yourself? It needs patience, a lot patience which is missing from youngsters & even oldies these days.Originally posted by anants_220 View PostSecondly, if he does file an FIR, the cop is definitely gonna make more money, most probably from you too.
I myself have called up 100 several times on occassion of spotting accidents, traffic jams, traffic blockers, fire cases & even once when my car was also hit by a canter. Except the fire case all other time, the response time was reasonable.Originally posted by anants_220 View PostThird, call 100 or worst case, call any Xbhpian ? Next on calling an xBhpian; no one need to be a contract killer or local ruffian, but, their state of mind would be far better than the victim who's sitting there helpless, don't know how to deal the situation in panic. In John's case, he's not familiar with local language, calling another xBhpian who's familiar with local language DOES HELP.
What do you mean by scene? No one goes to accident spot to make a scene for a photo shoot!!!Originally posted by anants_220 View PostAnd creating a scene can be very hazardous for someone who does not know the local language.
Try that one on me buddy, I'll make ppl run places!!! Trust me knowing law helps more than knowing people. Knowing both law as well as people will make stronger.Originally posted by anants_220 View PostAll the local has to do, is to tell all others he abused some leader there, and the other guy will not even have a chance to explain.
@Anant - I don't know what you're trying say, but sound a whole lot of negative vibes on this one.Last edited by aargee; 12-20-2010, 09:32 AM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

C'mon, you didn't answer most of my questions to you. I've been brought up in this city for over 3+ decade now, which is 6 times more than you did.Originally posted by anants_220 View PostThat is because i have spent 5 years in Chennai and have seen quite alot. You are talking about an ideal society

I'm talking reality & not being idealist!!! One needs to stand up & handle the situation rather than covering up. Its you & me who form the ideal society, running doesn't help anything.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
