thanks for the responses everyone. glad that i spoke your minds. the article was seriously edited. if it was written like that in the diary then it wouldnt have been approved. and also some personal stuff too has been ommited.
True buddy, i do have friends who ride recklessly that too without helmet. I pester them always about their wrong action and have been able in making at least 2-3 of them to get a helmet. I too fell that they are the ones(lidless riders) that cause a blotch to the bikers image. Heck , almost all the commuters here don't ride with a lid and honestly speaking the Police have also lost interest in catching them. Alas the are not catching people in the interest of law but to feed their pockets.

And about the 'advice' that other people give , most of them are family, so cant react at will too. Such a pityful condition it is of ours. But it'll surely get better for sure, as long as we have nice communities like Xbhp i wouldn't lose hope.

most of the family ask, "why couldnt you get a car?". well, to me thats like asking "why cant you be a female instead of being a male?!".

you said it dude, you spoke your heart and for many others' heart even
We wouldn't need a forum if we all had same opinions, same thoughts, and same bikes..... Enjoy the difference.

          @fatality-X: Thats a nice explosion....

Sometime back, I used to think that way also....that bastard motorists are gonna kill me and themselves....mostly because Ive had many a close call and a couple of accidents as a pedestrian against careless\rash riders....ranging from being brushed (painfully) by bike handlebars to being sent flying 4-5 feet away by a scooter. But i decided to change my thinking instead.

My arguement to shut up scepticism is: There is inherent risk in everything.....even sitting at home can be dangerous. LPG stoves are potential tools of death that we use everyday. You can die falling off stairs but its usually considered good exercise than a way to die. You can choke and die on a piece of candy but that doesnt stop you from having it....because you make sure that youre doing what youre doing the safe way. Then again, though you're in charge of your own safety, theres also, most of the time, an incalculable\unforseeable element in every action which is what we call luck or fate or to some others, a deathwish. We have 2 eyes and 4 other senses that most of us barely know how to make full use of, leave alone our ignorance of so many other aspects of life\living\nature....so every breath is a risk if you think along those lines.....which is why we want to believe in god(or self confidence or whatever)....some benevolent power to keep us well even if we have never seen him\her\it....to preserve our sanity from our 'rational thought'.

Thats too lengthy an arguement to use everytime, so short form: When god has left me free to choose what I do, who are you to prevent me?

Needless to say (but want to anyway), this arguement is best meant when one is a cautious rider with enoguh respect for his and others life\limb\property.

                  Hi

Fatality-X I had been riding since I was 15 yrs old and I am now 59, and continue to ride.I felt the way you did at young age, and even now if some one cuts across me in traffic, I have a good choice of words and epithets to express...but I had always found that anger is a very Expensive Feeling......We should "express ourselves" but should never let it get the better of us....if it does we pay for it with higher BP, and loose focus on other important things in life. "Riding " is a passion few can understand in the correct perspective. Not reacting to teasers is a way I found as a positive put down to those who tease me.
The greatest put down you can do is to ignore the person.Have sympathy, because they don't know what they are missing. Practice it and you will have Good health and happiness..Continue riding..safely.just my thought.

I'm watching this thread since y'day noon & I felt exactly the same - No point getting angry. Period.

And one should take the anger positively

Unfortunately, everyone learns as we grow up

+1; but sometimes, we also need to learn to give back so that they don't take it for granted. But again, it depends on whom we're giving back.

What nonsense was that? Parents do over react for the care of their Children's well being & not against their WILL. Unless we, as Children, do not understand this & get angry to choice of words & what not instead of simply making them sit & help them understand what that was all about.

PS - When I was in the process of buying a riding jacket, my Wifey & Mother were not so happy as why I'm "wasting" such a huge sum on riding jacket. My friends (who were also petrol head) also mocked saying, they could buy an used bike for that price. While I said yes to my friends & moved on, I sat with my family & made them understand on the importance of riding gears, showed few videos (positive ones) on what good things it can bring. Result? They aren't objecting when I said I'm going to buy a riding pant

Not like someone said, they'd do it on their Parents. What nonsense talk that was. Someone saying, they give some choice of words on their Parents. One should always remember that, Parents are always over reacting for the care of their Children's well being & not against their WILL!!!
Most of the time Parent's anxiety to safe guard their children is misunderstood in a negative perspective...the problem is most of the parents do not explain the why of it...But it is no excuse for the explosive expressions against them...Experience teach all of us in everything we do,.....some learn quickly, and some later depending on perception.

Wait wait wait.....before you mob up and lynch me, I never said anything against parents but if you read that line again, you will understand the literal sense of the statement. Though seemingly distasteful, I simply meant it as an attempt at humour (with no contextual reference to the topic) which this erupting volcano of a thread needs.

nobody gives a piece of their mind to their parents unless they are horribly wrong and force that idea on you.

Cool write up ... Can feel that it came from you heart .
But i do feel that anger is not the solution to making people understand .
Trying to convince every tom dick n harry is not possible . But it is important to let your parents and loved ones know about your feelings about biking , After all it is their prayers and support that will keep you from harms way while you're doing what you love .
