any inputs on the p220 engine. Please put in some info.other than the ccs and how different is the p150s mill from the 220s,though expernally both look the same sans the oil cooler(sorry for being noob)Originally posted by Joel View Post

Well, there are various factors which determine the potential of an engine.
Cylinder head deisgn, valve size, cam profile, combustion efficiency, Ignition setup, fuelling, flow efficiency etc which are primary factors to make power. A p150 has a pint sized exhaust valve and the head deisgn is far from being anywhere close to being racy, right from the bore/stroke and piston design. The cylinder head was never meant to flow at high rpms and was mainly targetted at only low-mid power. Having said that, it was purely a commuter engine and not performance targetted.
The gains to expect are far from being practical. You rather buy the bigger p220 to get that full gain.
The RTR on the other hand, with just 10cc more has a diff bore/stroke with revised valve sizes over the fiero, better head flow etc which make it more high-rpm oriented than the P150. With a higher port velocity and flow, the RTR sure has an edge over the P150 which was never meant to be a performance engine.
There are various design purposes behind every engine, so which is why all 150cc engines dont perform the same way. Most are commuter oriented with just low-mid power, while engines like the R15 and RTR love to be revved hard.
if you wanna go fast, get a faster engine. No good wasting money on a slower engine. It will only frustrate you.
Please keep this thread clean.

Again, I dont understand why people relate one engine's cubic capacity to another.
An old Ambassador cannot to be compared to a Honda Vtec, although both are 1500cc
. CC is not the ONLY criteria in going fast. And not 2 engines have the same potential.
The P150 is light years BEHIND the RTR160 with just 10cc lesser.

1. Are both these available in the stock sizes ? Are either of them tubeless tyres ?Originally posted by happybikingThats imperative...I switched to M45 for rear and MRF for front.
2. If so ,would you give me exact model numbers please?
3. How good are Pirelli tyres ? I keep hearing that the Sport Demon is a good tyre but heavy
.I wouldn't want to lose out on the low/midrange power - I get my kicks out of out-accelerating most bikes!
4. Why did you not go for Michelins in the front ?
Afterword- Picked up the Michelin Sirac 100/90 *18 for the rear.

Bumped into this the other day.Originally posted by princesirohi@ joel: do you have anything for P150, since now you have developed a lot of things for similar capacity apache 160's........
Originally posted by Joel View PostThere is nothing for a P150. The only worthy upgradable bikes are the P220, R15, RTR and Zma and I have the performance upgrade line-up. And to an extent the FZ.
The R15 is my flagship development, followed by the RTR and both are being raced by us. Next is the Karizma and P220 which are excellent street engines. The older pulsars are not gonna make it even with a head/bore swap of the P220.

@joel: Can an ECU be fitted to the stock R15 for better mileage and re mapped later when I decide to get the big bore?

Are the kits fabricated in entirety by Joel and his mechs or are they imported and modified for the RTR and other Indian bikes?I ask this question because I have no idea of the size of his setup!

That's impressive!Originally posted by happybiking View PostAs per joel around 20% increase...~3BHP...but weight reduces by around 4kgs odd...so better Power To Weight ratio
I didn't do any on mine...But the increase in power under A** is noticeable... He apparently did the tests when the project was done.
Now,all I need to do is find a decent mechanic in Secunderabad.Hope that the nearest CBZ is adequate.
I guess a tyre upgrade would help too.

My friend received his FFE via DTDC.Even im worried about this since im out of station and i cant pick it up myself. They will have to deliver it to my place which means them carrying it around more!Originally posted by shrjun View PostAny idea what power the big bore + FFE puts out (a ballpark figure)?Has any quantitative testing been done on joellified engines?
In an unrelated area, what couriers does Joel use?I ask because I always have trouble getting couriers to deliver to my area

Has anyone received the FFE at their doorsteps?Any damages?
Thank youLast edited by RanjithMN; 05-17-2011, 05:18 PM.
