Boss, what exactly do you mean by affordable?
Im an average biker with an average bike, average skills and a completely unrelated average job (or am jobless or in college) to support my passion to develop my average skills among many other things. I do not own riding gears (atleast not the complete set) but my blood boils when I see any bike zooming ahead of me and I wring the accelerator and zip through traffic (as responsibly as I can of course
) to catch up to it regardless of what bike Im on. Im a regular traffic offender(nothing stupidly dangerous) in pursuit of making my skills more than average. The only thing holding me back from track racing is the 'gandhis' involved in getting my bike prepared, buying proper racing gear, entry fees, transportation and such nonsense; which is a bomb for a once in a blue moon thing. I can do very well without all that by racing(again as responsibly as one can) on the streets till I get some good skills and money to bet on it and go bigtime.
From what you have said till now about going local, the above description seems to mostly fit your target audience (just my opinion from observations). So, how affordable can you make it for a guy like this? me included. If you can make it affordable enough to go for it limited to only a second thought and not followed by third, fourth thoughts and so on, Im in.
The least we can do for something like this is get a few people together and spectate your events(assuming you get things together). Great that you're determined to go ahead with your plans man. Good luck.
PS: like killer said, this fits the typical response of many a member here.

Affordable means you can get into racing with a small investment ... the sport is expensive, so I am trying my level best to cut down the cost effectively wherever possible ... I know the value of the 'gandhis' and not having enough to get into track racing ... So, I have definitely given the financial aspect a very deep thought ... i am working on it ....Originally posted by 2strokerama View PostBoss, what exactly do you mean by affordable?

Most of us fall under this category, Even in case you are a working professional its financially difficult to pursue any passion be it sports/ music /etc. Motorsports is not the only sport which is cash consuming, even a sports like swimming, cricket, football, hockey, tennis are equally expensive (if you need to do it professionally). So I personally consider expensive is a relative aspect and you need to prioritize your options.Originally posted by 2strokerama View PostBoss, what exactly do you mean by affordable?

Again do not take me wrong my friend, Racing on the streets is the most stupid thing one can do and also agree that we get carried away at time, On experience... One such stupid "carried away, zip through, traffic offender" activity landed me in hospital for 18 moths with my entire left leg to be reconstructed. I was wearing my so called riding gear at that time. So never ever try you skills on the general public road.Originally posted by 2strokerama View PostI do not own riding gears (atleast not the complete set) but my blood boils when I see any bike zooming ahead of me and I wring the accelerator and zip through traffic (as responsibly as I can of course

We agree with you on this completely, especially the "once in blue moon" stuff. Thats exactly why we started Apex Racing India. No preparing of Bikes, No transportation of Bikes, No riding gear required. Just your good helmet, boots. The rest would be available at the track side by Apex Racing. The race prepared bikes, the leathers, The glove and boots ( subject to size and availability). Yes all theses comes at a price. But defiantly will be less headache, less expensive than investing a setup yourself.Originally posted by 2strokerama View PostThe only thing holding me back from track racing is the 'gandhis' involved in getting my bike prepared, buying proper racing gear, entry fees, transportation and such nonsense;which is a bomb for a once in a blue moon thing.
I have nothing much to say on this I have already mentioned that to you above. Just watch this --> YouTube - Motorcycle Awareness: ObstaclesOriginally posted by 2strokerama View PostI can do very well without all that by racing(again as responsibly as one can) on the streets till I get some good skills and money to bet on it and go bigtime.
Yes its a long and lengthly process but we plan to conduct some event over the years to come keeping mind all the above pointsOriginally posted by 2strokerama View PostFrom what you have said till now about going local, the above description seems to mostly fit your target audience (just my opinion from observations). Re-life !!
Hello bikers,
After a brief survey over a month & a long and detailed search of relevant information on xbhp and external sites, I have to come realize there's one thing that is acting as a strong obstruction in our way to get track racing reachable to the common biker in all parts of the country - RACE TRACKS !!
The unavailability of race tracks is a major de-motivating factor for people like us to take up racing as a passion and profession as well. After a thorough research, I have realised there are only two purpose built racing tracks in the country:-
MMRT, Chennai
KMS, Coimbatore
If you see, both are in Tamil Nadu, and it is not easily accessible to even the other states down south - Kerala, Karnataka, AP, Goa.
A lot of potential talent lies in other parts of the country. But, the riders from TN steal the show since they have access to the race tracks. No wonder, you don't find promising names from other parts of the country of over 120 crore population . (No hard feelings to the TN bikers, I just want bikers from all over India to live their dream
.. I am a Tamilian too ...
)
As stated by Killer - single biggest reason - track accessibility and transport cost's that deters participation.
Besides these, all other deterring factors like cost of racing, track race bikes, riding gear will automatically find a solution once the track accessibilty problem is resolved. It automatically takes care of transport costs since the tracks will be available in the major metros , covering the length and breadth of the country.
Now, I need some serious participation from the movers and shakers of motorsports in India. I want everyone to spread this message to every corner of our country. Who will be the movers and shakers ??
1. Racing School owners, sponsors, management and operations staff.
2. Racing Clubs across the country (I have a list of about 35 odd clubs).
3. Officials of Automotive Mission Plan (AMP2016).
4. Officials of FMSCI, FIM Asia.
5. Officials of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
6. Officials of the motor-sports divisions of the two-wheelers companies in India
With some fair response from these heavy weights , I will take this project to the next level - track building across the country. Once the tracks are ready, the Racing Schools can set up their shop in-house and the Racing Clubs can organize more events throughout the year at more locations across India.
So, it's a humble request to spread the word to EVERY person who directly or indirectly falls/associated with any of the categories above. Spread the word, don't worry about the results - trust me on this !!
This is not just my dream, but a dream of every biker in the country that I am fighting hard to make it successful.
Once a biker, alwayz a biker !!

Unfortunately I do not know anyone from the above mentioned "movers and shakers".
There is this event on the April 30-May 1st coming up which is conducted by Apex racing, probably you might get something to add to your research there.

IMO this method of spreading the word and then waiting for someone to do something might take up 10-20 years. We ourselves must take action.
I say if we xbhpians pitch in as
a community we can make a difference
if even 1000 xbhians donate 1000Rs. each we can come up with 10 lakhs
we could get enough land with that amount to start off mini motocross-style races. And we could take off from there.Men who still dream of being a pilot or an astronaut are yet to ride a motorcycle.

very interesting proposition my friend ... I really appreciate your Go-for-it approach ... We can seriously give it a thought ! xBhp ,are you listening ??Originally posted by dushyant123 View PostIMO this method of spreading the word and then waiting for someone to do something might take up 10-20 years. true to your thought, we can atleast start with our own xBhp track !!
Futhermore, the solution as I see it and also as some experienced people suggested after my research is - building race tracks across the country. The land as you say, we might find it .. But, building a race track with some stringent quality approvals is not a mean feat . It runs into millions of rupees. Even, that is not an issue right now . We can rope in investors for the funds. Alrite, since you have taken an initiative of discussing the monetary aspect - Let me tell you, I have a business plan ready for this project. It has been reviewed by an investor . He finds the investment very lucrative. All he needs an assurance about is the SUSTAINABILITY of this project. (These investors alwayz think money wise
). So, my task at hand is to prove to them that there is a market for what we want and people all over the country are very positive about it .
So, my friend, all I want is people to respond to this project with some enthusiasm and get together to get all the big names to give their thumbs up for this project.
In simple words - If racing schools and clubs say to me, we will conduct events and championships throughout the year on your tracks across the country, I will go ahead and make sure this project turns into reality.

Thats great. And it'd be great to show investors our willingness via internet also. We must open up a internet community for people who'll pitch in and show support for the idea which we could use to convince the investors. Facebook, twitter, blogs... Let none be spared.Originally posted by CBZ View Postvery interesting proposition my friend ... I really appreciate your Go-for-it approach ...
