  • Would a Biker like to Own/Ride a Scooter?

Scooter Suck..!! Scooters are not Fun..!! Scooters are for Sissies.. Blah.. Blah..

That's what the usual mentality of a biker. That was even mine too. But as I am growing older (and hopefully wiser) plus after being married and getting around in a 4 wheeler now more often, I have started to appreciate the ease, utility and convenience of scooters.

    A. (Automatic) Scooters are riduculously easy to ride: No clutch, no gears.. just a twist of the right wrist.

    B. Scooters have storage space: We bikers are pretty much familiar with the headache of carrying our helmets everytime we have to park our bikes.

I have thought many times of getting a scooter but the current models that are available in the market don't excite me a bit. To me the current Activa/Access/Wego type of scooters are like Splendors/Passions. I need more excitement, more attitude, more fun with the ease and convenience of a scooter. Something like the Sporty "Yamaha T-Max".

    What about you guys?

Also what should be the ideal "Engine Size", "Fuel efficiency" & "Price" of your Dream Scooter?

I always loved the scooter ride..... I still miss my first scooter..... it was powerful and could easily beat any 100cc at that time..... it could even compete with 150's still its speed range after which I'll end up seeing only the tail lights of the bike..... so, do I miss my scooter, Hell Yeah..... there are not even a single good scooter available in India..... and I'm still waiting for a decent scooter to be launched..... was too happy when heard Yami is bringing its scooters in India..... but that turned out to be speculation.....
why I love it, don't know..... but just love it.....

        Why not?
I love to tour by nice performance oriented scooters (or scooterette), becauseit offers better luggage space than motorcycle without compromising the performance & convenience of a motorcycle.

But the sad part is, we're cursed only with underpowered scooters such as Activa & Pep's. There used to be a Kinetic Blaze 165cc. But nah!!! That's not what I intent. Something like T-Max is real fun, especially for touring.

I still remember one day I took my friend's 2 stroke Bajaj scooter... Chetak or something I think, while he rode my Pulsar...
The punchy 2 stroke almost made me start the ride with a small wheelie and that too almost shook me off the slippery seat.
The soft spongy seat kept me jumping all through the street, I just couldn't sit on it properly, specially since the street was full of potholes, not smooth at all.

It was my colony's street only, and the 4-5 people present there were laughing at me. No, I'm serious.

Yes, I would love to ride a performance scooter, but no more spring seats please.

seems like you are looking for a scoot because of its practicality. I agree with you on that however, if its practicality what you are after, then why do you need a big scoot like the y*max? i mean, to be frank, i want a bigger bike because its about passion of a sporty bike, if i need comfort, there is an option of cruisers. if you want a tourer, you have dedicated bikes. so where exactly does a scoot fit the bill?

yes, the carriage space is good, but on a big scoot like T-max, i doubt if this will happen. I mean, if one can afford a big scoot like t-max, I dont see a reason why a saddle bag cant suffice.

I myself have been looking for a performance scoot but I am eyeing the likes of blaze. and the reason why i want it is open air but with some protection from muck.

I mean, scoots are for practicality, but with a high performance scoot, you dont get much of it cos the rear space is occupied by the pillion, and the front space is taken up by the chasis.

I ride one to college/tuitions and occasional get-away's.It's fun but i'm 5'10 85Kilos so it kinda feels small, especially if my mother/sister sits(both legs on one side!)then my legroom vanishes into thin air....
                Conclusion-Scooters FTW!

The Blaze was the sportiest scooter that was once around. It had a 165 cc engine, fuel efficiency was probably around 30 kmpl.
I do not have an idea about its price.

Throw the god damn RTR180 or the P220 engine in a LC scooter and make it a unisex BIG scoot. (I know Unisex and Big doesnt go hand in hand!)

Engine Size-Any peppy, street smart engine would do well.I want the Ducati monster 796's engine in a scooter so that i'll look like the toned down version of Jim Carrey in the movie "Yes Man"
FE-If I'm buying it using my own money, then 30-35 KMPL would suffice, but If it's my parents' money i'm using then 45 KMPL is a must
Price-Depends on the job I have??!

some one should launch a good scooter so that we can get over the hang of Activa, Scooty, Wego etc..... you have one model with decent sales and all the manufacturer might jump in to grab a share.....
