Welcome back Dhairya. Been a long while.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

          • Guys I have a few questions....
            1) what is the break-in period(in terms of kms for a new R1)?
            2) In case a new bike is used to drag within the break-in period, will it have any long term/short term effect on the bike??

              1. 1000 miles, or 1672 kms ...

              2. Such an effect is not noticeable in rides. In fact, one Xbhp member used to say that Japanese Superbikes need no running-in. I don't remember who he was, but he seemed to be experienced.

However, some sites say that there is some ring around the piston, which breaks down quickly if bike is not run-in. So, NOT Running-in might result in some maintanence work later on, but no noticeable effect in rides...

                • Against popular advice and at the risk of being ridiculed I say you don't need any running in. In fact riding it hard for the first few hundred kms is better for the engine.

                      • just an interesting observation.

past one month plus I have a friend's r6 with me. everytime i take the bike out, all the dogs on the roads start chasing me. once i blipped the throttle to scare them...but then they got wilder instead. though blipping the throttle made a near by cow run as if there was no tomorrow.

this problem i never faced with my 600rr. the dogs used to run away, and there was no visible effects on cows

                        can anyone explain why??

i agree with you buddy. there was some article i read somewhere sent by someone. though it made a lot of sense to me, yet to blast off in a new vehicle to "run-in" the engine...

I once saw a program on National Geographic about polar bears. The expedition team were using some equipment which the bears used to destroy. The reason was found out to be low frequencies emitted by the machines.Similar experiments were done on elephants. And same results.

Similarly, the inline four cylinder engines also emit low frequencies or rather BASS in music terms. That is why the animals are agitated. Surprisingly my friend's dog behaves normal when a subwoofer plays loud bass nearby.

                            That is my observation.

                                low or high frequency?
i think the engine generates high frequency and the cans generate low frequency waves.
