First go through the thread that our good member has mentioned and then laugh.
Since you want to hot-rod your bike, all the information you might need is in there.

    Ride safe and have fun.

They arent suggesting you to get an FZ over 220, its about the big bore kit modification review and the nightmares that user had faced. Advice you to completely go through the thread and then decide if you want to go ahead with big bore kit or not.

I'm not advising you to buy an fz over 220. Didn't want to see an another bakra crying later so just gave you a piece of advice. If you don't want to go through that thread then its your wish, nobody here is forcing you.
If you want then go to google and search for 'The POWERHOUSE Fz18' or else go to the General discussions...you will find it there. Sorry if i am being rude but when anybody gives you a suggestion or rather an advice, atleast be nice to them even if you like it or not.

        Cheers

Whoa whoa guys relax!! I had never asked any advice on engine mods. If you had read my post carefully, i had mentioned 'other than engine mods'. I appreciate the concern however and would want to make myself very clear that i have always been against such mods. What i had specifically asked was about filters, plugs or exhausts that too if they do not damage the engine reliabiljty.

Also the thread wasn't opening so i was just curious by the name. Before asking me to have referred to the post, for a change lets focus on what the i was asking in the first place.

          Relax.

That thread is not only about engine mods. If you read in detail, people have shared their experiences regarding all the things that you have mentioned like FFEs. And do try to read your own posts for a second time in order to correct the spelling errors. Once might be a mistake but not twice or thrice rite? Anyways, if you need more power, go for a higher power bike. Cause no matter what kind of mod you do, however small, it does have it's own negative effects which will eventually effect the engine. People have learnt it the hard way, smart ones have observed them and avoided, and another class of people still go forward with the mods. It's your call.

Naah, nothing as such! There are no performance filters or plugs. FFEs (exhausts) are detrimental to the engine.

If this is what you wanted to know. nothing other than the stock air filters are better in India at-least.. they are made to filter out the dusts and specifically made for indian road conditions.. if the Air isn't filtered properly, think about all the dust that can possibly enter into your engine and you can imagine what will happen after that. FFEs very complicated and if you dont understand, better stay away from it. it is pretty difficult to get a perfect tuning and in turn it will spoil the engine atleast for the Indian bikes.. besides.. all this mod and what do you gain?? nothing.. trust me.. it is not worth doing all this..

Re: Joel's kit worth it ??

I've 2007 RTR 2017 model which ran for 1.78 Lakhs Kms before I changed to a RTR 180 Cylinder with Piston and Carb. The Head was send to the lathe for proper sitting. Its been running for the past 4 years having run about 50k Kms without any issue. The switch is possible if you know the TVS staff well and they are knowledgeable. THe whole work came to less than Rs. 4000 for me.

I plan to upbore my cbr 250 to 305cc with a cb 300 piston but will check if the head and bore packing is same.
