  • Pulsar Digi read out accuracy.....

    digi speedo error

a simple observationthat i did a few days back

i rode my sis's bike to a particular destiantion her odo showed 7 kms

then the next day i went again to that place on my 200 it showed the distance at 6 kms

i was a little baffled to see the differnece in the read out........thot that analogue digital diference......so the took my brothers rtr to the same place the next day it showed as 6.5kms.........

so now guys wat am saying here is that maybe we can say that analogue meters dont have the most accurate read out but wat about digital read outs?

the rtr's read out was more closer to the analogue one does this mean that the 200's speedo shows less distance than it should......even wen ive gone to belgaum via nh4 it clearly says 154 kms but my bike's odo read out at 141 wen i reached belgaum.......

wat are ure views on this???? is the 200 spot on and showing the EXACT read out or is it lagging?

        +1 buddy!!!

The It is very much accurate, even i found that in the last Speedcheck G2G, it was as good as Speed gun with just 1-2 km error.

When i crossed the speed gun my dash just jumped from 113 to 114kmph but the data captured by the speedgun was 112.
So that makes the error at just 1-2 kmph at 114 kmph.

The RTR and R15 are the more error prone..
Just for a comparo.. I was doing 95kmph constantly on my 180 when a friend running damn parallel on the RTR told he's doing 102kmph

The most accurate Digital meter is of Bajaj XCD ... not pulsar ...

            1. Me & my dad alongside. Pulsar 180 says 52, XCD says 50 ///

            2. XCD top speed is 90 ... It says 93 ... Ain't it most accurate??

Yes the pulsar meter is accurate...When I (on p180 ug3) along with my friend (CBZ Extreme) went for a ride my total distance was around 230kms while his bike showed 250 something.....Also during the ride his bike was well above 100 while i was on 95ish.

so does it mean that...which ever bike shows less speed reading riding parallelly is most accurate. wrong theory as far as i know.

Speedo's accuracy depends only the qulaity of material used in the sensors and the firmware used in them. even many truespeed checking devices are not accurate like GPS and Speedgun.

I've read somewhere in xBHP itself, dont remember the thread name. But its a analogue speedo that quite ancient that was use on some vehicle was most accurate, accurate than digi's.

pulsar is pretty accurate compared to other bikes in the market , tested with gps and gun.
The speedo error introduced by manufacturers is intentional.

Its about 1-3kms off the gps speed.

Not really!! It was cross checked with speedgun itself.. Agreed that the speedgun will not show the very accurate speed as even they have tolerance but the pulsar speedo reading is very much nearer to the Gun and for simliar speeds the RTR and R15 show more readings...Lets think the speedo of Pulsar is not accurate then what about RTR and R15?? I have no words for them

The pulsar speedo reading that everyone talks about is only of the 220/200's right?

Coz the 150/180 speedo's are of a slightly different type (i.e. they are not 'contact-less') and also show up speeds with a greater margin of error!

Not really... Even the 150/180 have the same speedo along with same sensors.. even they are non contact type..

FYI i have a P180 and i got a reading of 112 on the gun when the display was showing 113-114

How old is ur P180, coz I distinctly remember reading about this somewhere and checking in person the difference in speedo readouts!

There was also a difference in the dia of the wire that went from the wheel to speedo meter, with the ones on the 220/200 being of a smaller gauge!
