See, you can yourself approach owners of the showrooms and tell them that you want to do training without stipend and that you'll work with the mechanics. I'm sure they should allow you anyways.
From the 6-7 dealerships, one should allow you in any case.

I too have done such an internship with a friend of mine, in the Yamaha dealership in my city, as the dealer is my dad's friend. It was a great experience. What's more, we restored an old YBX125 with FZ's naked headlight. Learned to service the YZF R15 and FZ's. Plus, changing their suspension oil, etc, etc. I even have some pics from that internship.
Obviously, I don't know anyone in Bangalore right now.

I wanted to do something similar last summer... but it never materialized...
I dont know if going to dealerships and asking is such a good idea... if we personally know the manager/owner... it may happen, but im not sure...

Krishna - Apply for internship through Hero Honda. You'll need to spend almost 2 months (8 hrs per day) & I guess its a program through IGNOU. I've been told the details are on the website (not checked). You also get a certificate in the end.

              Hi aargee.
Tried searching through their web-site but didnt find much info.
Tried google and found lot of people who are doing internship with hero honda but in different fields like H.R. etc,...
I'm trying to get some more info through friends etc,...

If anyone of you knows somebody studying in IGNOU, please try to get some details about his course...

I have 2+ months of summer holidays and might take this course

It's quite clear through the IGNOU web-site that they are conducting programmes with Hero but not many details are given...

Last week I'd my chain cut on Rx & had to approach a nearest mechanic as I didn't have chain link nor tools. While I was waiting for the job to be completed, I noticed that this mechanic was a diploma holder in bike servicing. So all the IGNOU + HH stuffs are what he told me. I haven't verified it personally though.

Other option is to approach any HH ASC; I'm sure they're carrying out training (ofcourse with a price) but not at their premises, but just like the one I mentioned above with classroom & practical sessions for 2 months.

                Edit - See this...
Conducting a Certificate Programme in Motorcycle Repair and Maintenance under the IGNOU-Industry Partnership at the Tool Room and Training Centre of the Ministry of MSME at Guwahati in coordination with School of Engineering and in collaboration with M/s Hero Honda Motorcycles Ltd for the training and certification of skills of illiterate/unskilled/semi-skilled workers of the region.

So what that mech told is right I believe!!!

Final year degree in electronics?? Does that mean you're in Diploma 3rd year or engineering 4th year??
If you want a type of degree then I don't know what to say, 'cause you've already chosen Electronics and you should excel and learn more and more in that field only...But if you want just knowledge(degree doesn't matter) in automobiles branch then Yes you surely can. Even I was very much interested in automobiles, but this I got to know when I came to the 2nd Sem of my Comp. Science and Engg.. course So then I started thinking about can we connect these two things (programming and automobiles) for something beneficial...(You must have heard about ECUs etc stuff) Contacted Volkswagen, Skoda in Calcutta but they said we recruit only those with "degree" and then I thought to start a separate study(personal) on my own and then to start any project kinda thing...well, enough about me I just want to tell that you can form groups with students of other colleges who are in automobiles and can learn a lot; companies do offer more room when approached in a group(say we are this group from that college and want to see and learn the working procedure in your workshop for few days and tell them about your projects etc). Else, if you're going into things completely related to JUST servicing a bike or similar stuff you're not gonna learn a lot and you're wasting your time...You should try to learn the working principles or stuffs working behind those mechanisms, the former things then will come automatically if you know the basics and applications.
Sorry for the lecture but just told you 'cause I've faced similar situations.
All the best. I hope this initiative leads to your bright future.

thnx for the info guys. @sunny. im doing my final year BSc degree in electronics and computer science. my final aim is to build my own bike and race it on track. at present im having very limited theoretical knowledge on the the working of an engine n stuff. but badly need some practical knowledge as well. as far as forming a group is concerned its not working out primarily mine is not an engg coll and my frnz says its not practical at all. i dont want to lose hope. i think i can do this. now im going thru the engg books to get the theory right.

                          Hi,

When I was about to buy a motorcycle for the first time (around 6 months back) being a mechical engineer I wanted to get some hands on knowledge on the maintenance part. I tried Yamaha Technical Education but they told me it is for techinicians at SVC. I thought of calling Yamaha but lost track of it & decided to get knowledge online through forums, videos etc. That's how I was hooked up to XBhp & few other forums. Books like Motorcycle Mechanics are available in India but price is to high (~7K) also will not be good enough for beginners.
I saw this thread & thought of checking the course suggested by Aargee. Here is the link to IGNOU course, first check if there are any course centres in your city I found few in Pune. Also there is one course offered by Anna University as Dimploma in Auto Mechnic. But it is a Distance Education course so not sure about it. You can also look into few ITI certification courses.
Check this Forum (Team Bhp) thread for more options. Since you have much time I suggest take any of the course & with anyone help either do traning & work volunterily at any of the workshops and since you are at Banglore why don't you check with Joel..
