  • Attn: R15 owners - Whats your expectation?

As an R15 owner what do u feel is lacking in the bike?
What are the go fast goodies that every R15 owner is looking at?
Yamaha has given a pretty decent product, but it still does not give all those great kicks as they promised or rather hyped.
The ECU rumours and a potential 22bhp engine thingy is the air since a very long time. I'd say its plain crap untill u radically work on it and that engine will never be even close to a stock one. I've already explored the internals and have a good clue of the limits on this engine.

Ok coming to the actual part, I've seen many here discussing about a lot of things that could have been better on the R15. Performance wise and also in the looks department. Things like the rear tyre hugger, an LED tail lamp, etc etc could enhance the overall appeal and go fast goodies like a preprogrammed/remapped performance ECU, stock replacement airfilter etc can compliment the peformance.
I see Yamaha selling cosmetic bits ONLY and they are not cheap either.

So what does an R15 owner want?
It would be great if all the R15 owners/admirers here can list their expectations for performance and cosmetics.

    Cheers,
    Joel

      1) reduction of the chain noise..some sort of alteration that fixes the dust getting onto the chain

      2) makeshift temporary centre stand like the ones they use in the SC.not the paddock as it has to be easy to store.

      3) better beam spread in the low beam ( not a must though, can manage without)

ECU - Power us sufficient. Not Really Necessary.
Air Filter - I would prefer buying K&N
              Tyre Hugger - Yes
              LED Tail Lamps - Yes
There is also a need for Large Battery.

                BETTER SERVICE
                (Add this to the poll)

how about more after market parts becoming available. So yamaha , all you have to do is sell more R 1 5s.

                    - increase in low-end torque
                    - louder horn
                    - some cosmetic surgery that makes the back look more prominent
                    - a permanent centre stand

                      My WET Dream abt R15

I would love to see the following mods:

                      1.Broader tyres
                      2.More power at low RPM
3.More battery which could support HIDs and a louder horn
                      4.Gear Shift light
                      5.A small cabin for papers
6.And tail lamp should be completely changed....probably like the FZ16s

From a going to be R15 owner

-LED Tail Lamps (would save on power requirement)

                        - Higher rated battery (with appropriate charging capability)

-power , no not really, then there's no end to greed :P

                        - Centre stand, (some places you gotta have a centre stand)

-mudguard between the monoshock and the swingarm. (excessive mud deposits do occur) or a tyre hugger.

                        cheaper and more reasonable "accessories"
A man's testosterone level is directly proportional to bhp that he's using on his motorcycle.

I personally think, the R15 could use a Remapped ECU. A stock bike lacks grunt in the low end. Even a bubble visor for better aerodynamics. many tourers could use it as at high speeds the stock visor seemed a lil small for me.

The rear tail lamp needs to be changed and better horn and battery if required!

Isn't there a rubber flap between the monoshock and the swingarm?

I don't think the bike was designed with lower grunt as the main aim. The R1 lacks low end grunt when compared to the Blade and Gixxer. Even the R6 is the peakiest of the 4 600s. So, if shes modeled on her bigger siblings, I'd feel shes ok, and its actually nice that she is rev happy, unlike the other motorcycles which go crazy with vibes. Perhaps a different set of rear/front sprockets could sort this 'problem' out but that to me would be defeating the bikes purpose.

                              My requirements:

                              1. Atleast a 30 cc more, so that I get better power/torque figures and a better bang for my buck.
                              2. The rear really looks pathetic. Do something Yam. Probably LED's or a wider tail below the seat or a re-designed rear mudgaurd..
                              3. As someone already mentioned, better service
                              4. A tire hugger would look awesome and also a lot more purposeful.
                              5. Better headlamps.
                              6. More importantly, a better horn.
                              7. A spilt seat assembly atleast as an accessory.

@Joel and Santa : Whats the purpose guys? U doing something for Yamaha ?
