Hi .. have been searching for a riding jacket which could suffice my daily usage requirements under heat. Checked out some Mesh Jackets as well from RJay's, A*, Scoyco n Cramster. Any specific jacket I could check in for out of these as the range varies from around Rs.3,000 to Rs.10,000.
Also one thing thats bothering my from buying a Mesh jacket is that I would not be able to use it in Monsoon. And that here in Pune gets quite rude sme times.
So, I am also looking for some kind of inner lining that could help me in monsoon as well. I am not sure if that option is available but I am more concerned with the summer usage.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

@ranjith : good contribution bro
now i need help yet again.
i already got meself a dainese-ducati mesh jacket.
now looking at dainese 2/4 stroke gloves.
arai again is again in the vision - but not sure which one to buy. the rx7 has airvents slightly more on the top (for the head tucked in position) for ventilation - which frankly do not make sense riding in the city. any pointers as to which one?
or should shoei be considered?
shoes should be something that should go well with everything else. and i just don't mean by the way they look. i am talking about the comfort and the quality
also any places one can shop and save a few bucks in singapore?

My 2 cents (and personal experience):Originally posted by samyakmodi View PostHow to decide on the helmet?
How to decide on the jacket + gloves?
How to decide on the riding shoes?
Help needed. Some clues. anything.
I have been riding for more than 24 years now. As with everyone who starts riding bikes I bought a helmet without giving much thought to it. The sole purpose of buying the helmet was to satisfy folks at home that I would take 'adequate' precautions while riding. One day while going through a old Motorcyclist magazine that I had borrowed from a friend, I came across a Bell Aerostar Helmet advertisement with the caption "If you have a $10 head wear a $10 helmet". That advertisement was a defining moment for me. From that day onwards I have never bought or used a cheap helmet.
Now, coming to your question about how decide on a helmet; My advice would be to buy a helmet that has international safety certification (I personally prefer the A.C.U certification). Any helmet that is at least DOT or ECU certified is suffice to do the job of providing you with reasonable protection. The second and more important thing to consider after the certification is how comfortable the helmet is. This is an aspect that most people in my view do not give enough importance to. It is my personal experience that not all helmets even in the same price range are suitable. I have tried all the major helmets in the market before zeroing to AGV and Nolan as the ones that fits my head the best in fit and comfort. It is not necessary that what fits someone's head will also be as comfortable for you. You can only zero in on the helmet that is best for you by trying these helmets on for your self. There is no alternate to this aspect of helmet selection. Also remember that helmets provide maximum protection when the fit you like second skin neither too tight nor too loose.
My size is 7 1/4 or 56 cms. While some helmet makers call this a 'S' size, some others call it a 'M'. My point being that various makes have different take on sizing and you cannot select just by the sizing chart or label on the helmet. For best results you will need to try these helmets before you select anyone of them.
Jackets and Gloves: It is an undisputed fact that leather provides the best protection of all. Period. No two ways about it. The reason why you may select a textile jacket is for practical considerations. Typically a leather jacket will cost you two times as much as a textile jacket would cost. The other consideration would be the climate conditions in which you are riding. Lets face it, riding in the high 30s and mid 40s with leather jacket is not going to make for a pleasant ride. I personally feel that RS Taichi is a brand more suitable for our Indian body types than A* or Dainese or other european brands.
Shoes: I completely empathize with what you are saying about people laughing. Even after 24 years of biking, I have friends who are not into biking who scorn and laugh when I buy a helmet or shoes or jacket that is worth 20,000. They can't understand why I would buy something so expensive just for 'biking'. I have had comments like 'why don't you buy a iPad instead of wasting money on this stuff'. The best response is to ignore such comments. People who laugh are ignorant and fools. While they are laughing today, it is very likely not one of them will come forward to help you if you crash and hurt your self. For shoes my advice would be to select something that offers ankle protection. In most cases the first damage is twisting of the ankle. My personal preference is Sidi. I also have a pair of Puma, while these are super comfortable, they are not some thing you can walk around comfortably. So my vote would go to Sidi. Very practical and also very comfortable.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.
