  • Announcement: Threads regarding Joel.

    Dear Members,

Very recently, we had a Modified R15 topic by a new member, Revhard Biplab, and that created some controversy over source of power figures, reasons for malfunctioning/ seizing, etc. Only few users stepped in to clarify some facts to the thread starter, and the thread was almost wasted, with not much benefit to anyone.

The Xbhp staff hereby announces that from now on, every "X" bike modified by "Y" engineer, will have its own individual thread.

    Like,
    R15 modified by Joel,
CBR 250R modified by Joel, and so on...

Starting with this, all R15 threads have been merged into this topic: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/pit-stop...fied-joel.html

But as of now, Joel's self initiated threads have not been merged. This decision has been discussed in the Moderator Lounge, and the other moderators agree on this issue. The reason for this move was:

    1. We believe that more and more users logging into one similar topic, will have a better chance of Redressal of issues, and dissolving confusion effectively and quickly.

    2. It is a necessary step, to control the chaos specially for the future, if not the present. Because, in the General Biking Discussions Page, we often see multiple (3-4) threads reg. Modified R15's, which leaves less room for other topics.

Also, since we have multiple modifiers now, a bike owner using a different kit from a different engineer can open a new thread regarding the same, if it doesn't exist already.

More decisions on these issues can be taken later on, and shall be suitably conveyed. You're welcome to post constructive feedback in this thread, but anything going personal or negative shall be deleted without explanation. Thanks.

    Regards,
    Samarth.

There are some posts in each thread that have more valuable information than others. There should be a way to highlight these posts (user ratings?) similar to making threads sticky. Mentioning post numbers or asking the mods to add the information to the 1st post is not nearly as simple
In today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

How do you think it will achieve the purpose? Kindly explain. Tks.

PS - Anyway, this is not a challenge, this is just a thought & I certainly respect the GROUP's decision

A scenario - If I were a new member, who joined yesterday and I wanted to find info about joel'd R15s on xbhp. My head would be spinning trying to make heads or tails of what's what through that thread. Who is replying to whom, what is being said, nothing is clear.

Just imagining myself having to go through 55 pages of gibberish makes me shudder. All those individual threads contained a lot of meaningful information. But even meaningful knowledge when mashed up in an incomprehensible manner makes it look very much like gibberish. Especially Abhimanyu31's thread was really good.

A better idea would have been to close all those threads with a link to a new thread, in which Joel'd bikes could be discussed in the future. Through which the sanity of the past threads would have been maintained at the same time new posts would be located in one place.

I hope this suggestion would be given a thought in the future.

I do hope that the members will be more mature, and have meaningful discussions, so that people like me can learn.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Leave Joeled R15, try finding any information on the Ownership thread, Its next to impossible.

The best would be to leave it in that section. Or better a section be made for individual tuners. Or like every other forum does, make a sticky thread and post links of relevant thread on that master thread.

X set of people visit Leh each year. Just like tuning experience, everybodys experience on Leh is different, So does that mean we have ONE master thread for Leh where everything is merged? or all R15s in Leh?
          I think no.

Tuners are a rare breed on this forum. Especially the likes of Joel. We have already lost a few legends like Venu, RKumar, Atul and so many more... this is a pretty sorry move. Instead of nurturing them, am sorry to say but you are treating them as crap. "Here, this is your corner, stay here!"

+1 absolutely!!! Leave alone great tuners being a rare breed on this forum, they are a rare breed in this country. Whenever I travel abroad and I meet friends and associates who are into biking, I feel a pang of regret and these thoughts never fails to cross my mind; 'Why do we not have such great tuners and such biking culture in India?', 'We are light years behind in making biking a acceptable life style'.

Such treatment to tuners is not going to help our cause.

+1. I don't get it it was us enthusiasts who urged Joel to mod bikes for us and now that he has taken the trouble and precious time from his Race schedule to give us all we ever wanted which we never even dreamt would happen in India is happening. Tell me honestly would you see akra or two brows making exhausts for our desi bikes I'am sure they don't give a rats ass.I believe in him simply because i have seen him grow leaps and bounds and the guy never ceases to improve. I'am a fan boy, Kill me but i think you need to Respect a guy who actually deserves it.

Aah!!! So, does asking question means "treating them as crap"? So does that mean we should stop asking questions? As a customer are we not entitled to know what goes into our bike? Atleast if the questions were crap, then, yes, can understand to some extent; what has belief got to do with understanding; really funny!!!

^^^ not at all. In fact do ask questions. But there is no guarantee that you will receive a answer that will you will like or a answer at all for that matter.

You have the right to ask questions, but it is the other person's right to choose to answer or not.

ROTFL!!! What I understand is...I'm a customer & I ask question for a service I need & the person who's providing will not give me an answer.

And yet, we have to say awesome service, excellent product failing which we will loose the people who provide that "excellent service"; is that what we do in real life

^^^ The way I see it (and no disrespect to you or anyone for that matter); if I ask a question and someone does not want to answer it, I understand that the person is not interested in doing business with me, so I will take my business somewhere else and to someone more receptive.

I require a service and have the money. His prerogative is to decide whether my money is good enough or not and whether he wants to do business with me or not.

Anyway, don't want this issue to degenerate into a argument which will head nowhere so... peace brother... to each his own...

Oh!!! So, if the person doesn't respond to my questions, it means he doesn't want to carry out a business with me. Ok, nice thought; but, the way I see it is - DISCRIMINATION.

But then, this is a public forum, the services are posted in public, which I understand is open to all & denied for one person who asks questions. Do we mean that, we got to accept what's thrown at us & should we ask questions, we will be denied the service Was that my mistake then

Hmm...it would've been a nice gesture of courtesy atleast to say that, on these these grounds, I do not want to carry out a business with you

Ok, I'll stop here as I go with what you say, which I understand, Aargee is denied with Joel's services

Since every product from every tuner is tailor made you can obviously call him and get your doubts rectified also if you are so keen on getting a mod done on your ride. Also the replies are easy to understand face to face than on a public forum.

Or are you those sorts who would just slap the payment and walk off?? No right, you care for your ride, we all do sir.

^^^ As i said before, you have every right to ask questions. You are not to be blamed for asking questions. But if the person on the other end does not want to answer your questions, what are you going to do? Put a gun to his head?

I agree with you that common courtesy and business etiquette demands that if a question is asked, a reply needs to be given. But there are many people who don't follow these courtesies or etiquettes. What do you do then?

Is it a crime? No, it is not. Is bad business? Yes, it is. Who is at a loss? The person who is offering the services is. Are you out of pocket by anything? No, you are not. So why are you getting so agitated?
