Ridiculous topic and ridiculous approvals on threads which make no sense !!!
With all due respect, this is exactly how 'Scoops', 'Rumor Mills' and 'The Grapevine' work. There has been no news about the expected launch of the Thunderbird 500 but the featuring of the bike in an upcoming movie certainly means that the launch is close.

Obviously, there are people who care about the bike more than you do. For them, the thread is definitely not ridiculous.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

There are a million pictures available of the bike on the internet. Just because its "featured" doesn't mean its going to be launched.
You want "scoop" - The bike is already in Bangalore and the local dealers are already offering test-rides to selected few customers. Still no confirmation on the launch date has been given. But i have no pics to prove it and so it becomes just another story.

For anyone who cared about bikes, would last want to discuss about SRK riding the bike in some movies nobody knows. Now lets discuss --Does any know the name of the movie or the date of release of the movie?

If there are a 'million' images available on the internet, would you be kind enough to post a few here, just to give this thread a non 'ridiculous' direction?

Giving Test rides has nothing to do with Launch dates of anything. I TRed an Electra 500 EFi and a Standard 500 EFi over a year back (As part of a Potential Customer feedback program). Nothing of that sort has been launched yet.

As for the movie, here is all you need to know about it.
          Yash Copra's Untitled Project (2012) - IMDb

The movie was 'Rumored' to be called 'London Ishq', there has been no official title announced yet, leave alone a release date.

There have been many bikes showcased by RE at the Auto Expo (Like the Cafe Racer) but nobody has seen them in action. If a 'Auto Expo Unveiled' product is featured in a movie, conventional wisdom says that this will be the real deal and not just a 'Concept'.

Finally, if you still reaalyy feel that the thread is so ridiculous that it should be locked/deleted, please feel free to report the thread and then stop bothering to check this 'ridiculous' thread. Lets see if the other mods agree with you because I certainly don't.

You are the Moderator you should know better, FYI just a couple of days back there was a pic posted by someone with the TB500 on the forum. Kindly search. Probably you won't find SRK on it. Heres one

hahahh.I was giving you a scoop and nothing else. Its better to believe the real deal thats out there, than the silver screen, unless other wise its you. My "conventional wisdom" says its got to do everything with the launch.

If RE have concrete plans to launch TB500, they should atleast put one for display at every showroom, and this movie in question is rumored to be released only by end of this year

Well if you search for TB 500 pics on google you would find the pic posted by Asif before the Shahrukh one. Using Shahrukh for the publicity by Enfield is something I can understand but still can't get the point why the pic with the common man wasn't used to start the thread ( it makes more sense and the possibility of a near launch fairer ).
No intentions of heating up the arguments though since I understand that mods won't go and search for the pics on Google before approving the threads and anyways it doesnt makes much of a difference. We have a place to discuss and that should be enough.

I don't deny the fact that any glimpse or pic of ones dream bike or any bike for that matter would excite people like you and me.
A thread is opened to discuss and to share information, not to discuss if "is thats SRK riding the RE Thunderbird 500" and especially when one doesn't know the name of the movie or the date of release and still will link it to the launch of the bike. Isn't that ridiculous.

There are many friends I know in Bangalore who have already ridden the bike through the local dealers. The bike had been given to these people for 2 days to ride around and give a feedback to the company. Thats something will tell you that the launch is round the corner and not this scoop that we are discussing about. This is the a way many companies across the world are starting to launch their products, but i guess some of us here are unaware of this method.

All i say i don't mind a discussion over it, but a dedicated thread to discuss an information which holds no good is just meaningless. The attitude of few people only shows that the forum is also getting its share of stupid governance like the current government of India.

                          Hi All,

I am waiting for Thunderbird 500 to be released eversince it was displayed at Auto expo. I was casually going through some website and came across these pics, which only excited me more. But I was not sure whether this was RE TB 500 as movie is being shot abroad. So, started this thread to get more info on this. I was not aware of the fact that TB500 has already been test-ridden by few lucky ones. Through this thread I got to know about the same. So, I believe that this thread is of some use atleast to the person who started it. The intention is purely to know more about TB500 launch, and not to glorify a movie star. I kindly urge everyone to take these kinds of things lightly and not to turn every small thing into a big serious issue, for which we already have some elected people sitting in national capital (Please take this easy too). I also urge people who have test ridden to share their experience with us.
Finally, I want to thank the moderator for approving this thread. Like any senior in any field, he displayed the attribute " No question is silly". Thanks for that.

Take it easy guys, and ride safe and ride long

Whats ridiculous about it? I tell you what

A thread is opened to discuss and to share information, not to discuss if "is thats SRK riding the RE Thunderbird 500"
Exactly! The thread started as a query by someone who wanted to know if it is TB500 or not, then it took an obvious turn where people started discussing the possible near-future launch of the bike and related information. The best way forward would have been to post the information that you have (courtesy several of your friends who have ridden the bike). But you didn't care to share it. Rather you are questioning the need to start such a thread.

                            THIS is ridiculous.

There was never any attempt by the indulging members here or the moderators to glorify the celebrity or the movie involved here, except you who turned the spotlight on Shahrukh rather than the bike itself.

                            THIS is ridiculous.

How many people know about it? Did you care to share this info anywhere? No? Isn't it because you yourself didn't think much of it. And this is where bringing a celebrity into the picture comes handy. People take notice and discuss.

This strategy is being used by companies worldwide, and the very fact that we are discussing this here (rather fighting over it), regardless of whether you like it or not, proves the success of this strategy. And I don't see anything wrong in it.

The attitude of few people only shows that the forum is also getting its share of stupid governance like the current government of India.
Same old Indian mentality, just crib and blame the government without actually doing anything meaningful about it or taking initiative to solve the problems.

You had information but didn't care to take initiative and share it. And when somebody else shared some info, from a different source, you are telling us what you already "knew" about it.

                            This my friend is RIDICULOUS.

You find this thread stupid, there are many people who think otherwise.

Edit: Changed the name of the thread, should make purists happier now.

                              @Sunil please explain:

                              1) Does anyone riding the bike in a movie, in some corner of the world justify the launch of the bike. Left alone the launch of the movie. The first post that was edited later said is it SRK riding the TB500 and spoke nothing about asking the launch of the bike or showed any inquisitive thought. People were discussing only if it is a TB500 and linking the launch of the movie to the launch of the bike. Are we discussing movie stars here?THATS what is ridiculous.

2)It has been always thought of as a story telling if someone says or talks about things like this without any concrete proof. Haven't threads been locked previously because of this. It was only 2 days back before the thread was started that I got calls from friends asking if i would be interested in doing a test-ride, but was unable to. Do you want me to start a thread on this?

3)I was only posting what i felt, Moderators feel that just cause they have authority they can ask anyone to shut-up and not checking threads so be it. There is a way and method to everything, which is clearly not the story here.

There is no point in arguing about this cause one feels one is right and theres no end to it. Lastly my crib and blame is about the governance not the government, hope you understand.

                              Cheers!!!

                                Asif, you need to relax

The thread starter just wanted to clarify if the "guy in the picture" is riding a yet-to-be-launched TB500 from Royal Enfield. That's it. And since the motorcycle is yet to be launched and given the fact that there's no info about the same whatsoever, the discussion diverted to the launch speculation, quite obviously. There is nothing wrong in that when the product involved haven't seen the light of the day yet.

I just believe that how you put forward your frustration about the way this thread went sounded like a rant rather than a simple suggestion or advice! May be if you would have been a bit gentle in your choice of words you wouldn't have needed to explain your posts now! I hope you get what I mean.
