quote:-There is lots of play between piston and cylinder, so much that the piston can be shaken inside the cylinder.

rohit..if u get the piston out...and barrel too..see if u cud take these measurements.
1- there are four holes on barrel-top for mounting..wats the distance between them
      2-piston height
3- small end inner and outer dia.
      4- piston top's dia.
5- length of the con-rod(just rest scale on big end and measure up.

see max even if the play is there u have to find out the ring end gap coz sometimes if tht's not drastic even a fresh pair of npr rings will do the trick, also if compression's fine and bore's not oval why to screw a rare stock barrel?ur a lucky bugger i tell u .also take a good quality pic.of the barrel with the head removed, post here and rddreams.
meanwhile check the ring gap by pushing the ring down 20mm inside the bore with the piston, then see the gap.wash the barrels with petrol and scotch brite, remove the blowby marks on the pistons and barrels with a wet type 400no sandpaper.

Man I'm starting to love doing this, maybe I'm scewing up but still loving it.
I'm using 3M211Q p600 paper for polishing, first I'm wearing the surface of the paper off by scraping it on the barrel fins, to make it less abrasive. Then I'm dipping it in engine oil and then working it on cc. I dont know but i think it is working pretty fine on the combustion chamber, the finish looks very smooth, but isntlike a perfect mirror as a guru would expect. But there are a few minor scratches, what harm would these do in the future? Also both valves are leaking. Think i have to remove them and lap in grinding paste. Should I do the same polishing procedure for piston top too?

see the inlet track should be left rough.the exhaust should be smooth.also piston top should be left alone as scraping it may drop the comp.try not scratching the chamber inside.take a comp reading after the thing is complete.sort the valves too.

Still some carbon removal left but as of now the head and exh port look like this.
