Give a holistic list of option for choosing tyres the bike comes with. Ppl end up paying too much for a tyre change otherwise. Some runs them for 30-40Ks and then get the option of replacing them.
The same list goes for other options.. Motorcyles just have choice for Disc/drum type in the list of optionals. What about 125cc/100cc(in the same variant, seen i10 1.1/1.2, Alto 800/1000?), Tubeless/Tube, FI/Carb, Single horn/Dual horns, Rear disc/Drums, Digital display/Conventional display etc etc..
Fazer 153 is equipped with Disc brakes when it is exported, but for Indian customer this is not even an option! When they are making it from the same plant, why not optional?Comment

Hey! Great topic! I was thinking of starting a similar topic a while ago. Great points put up by ankit. Cheers. This is gonna get interesting I guess.
As to what I feel, manufacturers should have a 'Sport/Race' oriented model of their flagships so that riders have to shell out less to make the ride more worthwhile. Practical stuff like race spec tyres, air-filters, exhausts, race ECMs, handles, etc would be great. These could be either available as optionals or packages or then there could be a whole seperate stock race version readily available!

Thing, the manufacturers should not do is cost-cutting on the essentials in their premium products. I hate the absence of 12 V charger for my navigator in my Thunderbird 500, the highway cruiser and premium product of Royal Enfield as on today, when the scooters costing less than half of its cost have this gadget.

My few cents
1) Bigger fuel tank options / functionality to add additional incremental fuel tanks for touring
2) Higher wattage batteries to support bulb upgradations
3) Better bulbs
4) Hazard lights
5) Better contoured / comfortable seats / customizable seats
6) Better designed bikes (style, safety - aspect)
7) Disc brakes (front and back)
8) Better tyre options
9) Better instrumentation so that it is legible even in broad daylight
10) Provision of easy, accessible storage facilities for bike papers, tools and cleaning cloth
11) Factory fitted helmet locking facility
12) Service reminder facility built in
13) Central locking facility like auto cop (available from factory)Automobiles saga till date......

Give consumer an option to pick and choose stuff for his/her ride.
This may include:
1. Option of tyres
2. Better bulbs
3. Charging sockets for navigator (for the wanderers) and mobiles and assorted stuff.
4. Better Color options (Some may prefer a matt black over the shiny one).
5. Choice on the standard add ons (saree guards / guards etc etc)
6. Disc Brakes over the standard ones (on all rides)
7. ABS for bikes >= 200 CC. Should be a norm actually.
8. Seat cushions (depending on the comfort level of the rider)
9. Option of extended warranty and 24*7 roadside assistance.
10. Grab-rail options for variety of riders.
11. Height adjustment (Handle and GC) / foot pegs / suspension settings for the comfort of the rider.
Am not asking them for free(if they are am fine
), these should be available for a cost at least depending on the customer's need.

1. Do not increase the pillion seat height on commuter bikes, most of us have females in home who doesn't want to climb the Everest every time she goes for a ride.
2. One should not have to retrace the rider footrest every time they kickstart the bike.
3. Disc brake on every bike
4. Higher gas capacity(Minimum 18 liter)
5. Easy access to the centrifugal filter.
6. Provide better after purchase service.I am back!

^^ Actually I wanted to write the same thing.
What's preventing the manufactures from bringing 2 strokes back. The technology is not so handicapped to bring it back. Only thing is manufactures don't want to invest in 2 strokes technology to cater a few when they have 4 strokes at their easy disposition.

Pollution norms. Two strokes do not meet current pollution norms which are getting stricter by the day. Thats the primary reason. Thats why a more complicated engine(read 4-stroke) which is costlier to build is part of 99.9% of the bikes on road today.
