Re: Things you wish motorcycle manufacturers should do.

1. Open architecture type plugs/sockets for electrical wiring, so that we can add things and gadgets.
2. Mobile holders at the handle bar, with charger internally connected. (I hate to take mobile in my pocket , just a wish ! )
3. Good quality long lasting paint job, unlike CBZ xtreme series.
4. Some anti-theft security features like internally fitted GPS locator which can not be taken out easily. (If possible)

I dont think they even make 2 strokes nowadays except for some countries for special kind of races

erm KTM is still gung ho about two strokes and they have taken the technology a step further by making the engines more reliable, liquid cooled, fuel injected (still in the works) and less polluting. Let's see if they go crazy and launch two strokes in India may be in sometime future!!

But i guess the main reason is the amount of money required to set up a new plant to manufacture two stroke engines and then the issue of fuel efficiency. They can make do with the existing vendors and set up for creating more smalle puny motors.. i guess! :P

Cheers,
Exactly. KTM is one of the foremost manufacturers of 2-strokes today and they are more famous for their dirt race/ mud slide racing segment achievements. The special categories. The models which are produced for road use are still 4-stroke. The world has moved over from 2 to 4. For a reason.

They should give option to customer to change or select specific brands for parts of bike such as tyres from michelin , lights from Osram etc .

Sounds great, but thats a bit of wishful thinking I think. It would mean that manufacturers would have to stock all brands of all components/parts. Now who would expect that to happen in India? Why, I suppose that doesn't happen anywhere in the world. Mostly they put in parts which are good enough according to the company standards. The optionals list is slowly gotten almost non-existant in India except for the very premium folks like Rolls Royce, Bentley etc, but that again is another ball game altogether...

pixantz I would like option for tyres atleast , these stock tyres are very bad for rain conditions

Yeah bro, I understand what you mean... But I guess we have to buy our own around here. The only choice they give is, guess what.... Colour!!! Ha ha

Re: Things you wish motorcycle manufacturers should do.

Apart from existing things and new bikes i would really love and buy a serious off roader. Impulse was good at least a first step towards such genre. As its been quite a simple idea many have thought about it too..that It could have been powered by a big mill and its quite true too. We end up modifying our bikes...a good factory off roader roll out will indeed cheer us up, wouldnt it. KTM and other brands might enter with their off roaders but thats a thought everyone of us had thought of it. But Impulse being a great bike first as such off roader is great. At least for a start we would love a big mill or a torquey engine or something more powerful and potent.

Re: Things you wish motorcycle manufacturers should do.

Putting all points into one, we can have a single, online "Bike Customizer" like we have for high end cars, where we can choose and customize everything about the bike including color, graphics, other visual mods, performance parts (better air filters, disk option, projector headlamp options, LED lamp options), add-ons (like saddlebags, hardcases, tankbags etc) which can be finalized at the time of booking the bike itself. Once the prospective buyer locks his options, he can proceed to pay the booking amount online (or, take a printout of the order confirmation and pay the booking amount to the nearest dealer)

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Another thing, they should provide service manuals to general people. They act like those are the blueprint of top secret nuclear weapon whenever one asks for them. The same company provides service manual to general public in USA but in India they gets anal about it if asked to provide service manual and claims those are available only to authorized dealers.

+1 on that. At the least a spare parts code list with tentative pricing would also certainly help!

I just got CBR 250R as my first bike. I wish if it would have Gear shift indicator which indicates current gear number.

This topic seems to have gone cold guys!
Anyway, one more thought here:
I think Honda should make an inline four 300cc bike specially for asian type markets either by using the CBR250 as a base or downgrading the latest CBR600 with a lighter chasis maybe.
Other treats that would be welcome along with it may be Xenons or LED projectors for dipper, more sharply shaped mirrors to match the rest of the design, more aggressive power characteristics something like Yamahas and yeah, the always awesome drool factors like the usual silky Honda treatment and reliability to boot! Howz that sound....

In the Earlier days we where able to see lot of innovations on bike. Like different Kind if Shock Absorbers, Various Design Factors, Parallel Twin Engines, Cast Iron Engines Two strokes to four strokes lot of innovative stuffs motorcycle manufacturers did. But now a days the innovations are limited the RND Team mainly concetrate on the reausability and low costing. Almost all bikes looks same in their category. Example Concidering 100 and 125 CC bikes Each bike from all motorcycle manufacturers looks same other than the design. Even we Indian bikers are changed now a days, we to deserve all those new innovations which use to happen earlier.
