See its not impossible, especially if one's job involves riding around a lot. In cities like Mumbai/Delhi its pretty easy to rack up numbers.

Not saying I don't believe you, just INSANE to see a 300Kms/day average figure. And I thought my 50K in 2 years was something LoL!

But the question remains...which bike ?

the bike is avenger - me saving every penny again to breath a new life in to her - she needs an overhaul yet again [her 4th in 7 yrs]
am aspiring to get leh'd on her next season - preparing her & myself for that ride
godwilling & godspeed, mebbe i will be able to do that in this birth

i guess 'being able to ride' is in itself a big plus
as the for n650, who knows what's in the destiny for both of us.
the IBA achievement does not involve long hours (the one i mentioned about)

you need 160000kms in a year
document those miles take full records of parts replaced and services undergone over the year....and voila u got a record to your name

I wrote it because i think u can do it because the odo of your bikes say "hell yeah ,that is some s*it,beat it"

an can u tell me how much kms will a RE last without any major work..(i ride sanely)

4th overhaul in 7 years and yet the Avy survived. Kudos to both of you buddy. Thats the highest I have ever heard on it. Guess you have a lifetime of memories to share (after spending a fortune on two wheels) and enter the limca book of records.

@Technosid : yeah i know u talking abt the endurance run & not a saddle sore. but then again my response remains the same. i get her serviced every 3 months regardless of whether i ride or i dont. but i have not kept a track of any records etc. since i never rode her w/ that viewpoint. hell the speedo & odo itself was replaced 4 times in last couple of years. ur Q on how long will the bike sustain u... the way u change the gears, the way u rip it, the way u tend to her in wet / rains, the way u service her, the quality of lubes & labor u allot for her & in general how caring a home u offer her - defines the tenure. my other bike a true blue brit royal enfiend - a 1962 model [mhj-231] was with me till 3 yrs ago [yes - 49 years in the same family!!! passed on to me from my grand-pa > uncle > dad > cousin > me] - hell i forgot the odo readings of her - had i posted those here, u wud have sought immediate mental asylum for me. the only problem w/ a bull is that it turns its owner into a full time mechanic... i tend to dislike that; especially with age... long story short, i guess how u ride the machine defines how long will it be with u. i am prolly one of the most docile riders around & most my motorcyclist friends call me captain slow

@phanikar : a fortune spent indeed! basic back of paper-napkin calculations indicate that i cud've easily bought a D390 & a Dio; had i been driven by my brain instead of being driven by heart. activity of saving cash has begun... dunno by when shall i resurrect her again. she is in daily-commute ready state even today tho - top speed 50, regardless of what rpm she is at :P

same here buddy lot of my friends hate me for my sane and slow riding.....

i rarely touch even 60-70 in city,though i keep 80-90 for highways
max i touched was 110 on my re but you being a former RE rider must know how scary a RE becomes beyond 90...
i have 350 cc electra and i feel lack of power on highways..

Technosid : ha ha ha! well i always believe in doing things that 'give me joy' - if rippping ur ride gives u joy... do that. but if cruising @ sub-90 puts a grin on ur face... its best that u do that yeah... riding a bull beyond 90 is like being on a suicide mission... as for the lack of the power... thats a known fact... i had read an article in popular mechanics decades ago which stated that 28% of the power churned out by the bull engine is utilized in running the engine itself - thanks to the way its being built for last half a century, this is one thing that will not change - reducing the weight of the engine etc. are insignificant mods

spot on

i forgot to mention the vibes beyond 70 also
at that speed on a bull ...

falling down a flight of stairs or sustained machine gun fire,i bet would be more comfortable than riding my RE

BUT still i love my RE ,simply because it a RE

n650 is @ 1.7K in about 1.5 months of ownership - will be about 2.5k by coming monday & about 2k more by end of this month

@Technosid : depends on how u use it. different kms need replacement of different parts. if u care to maintain it, u will have urs for years. my previous CD100 was w/ me for 11 yrs. purchased it for 47k & sold it for 20k - was in mint condition throughout.
And i thought the petrol price was rising because of our government. hehe

and wish you another happy 6.6l kms.

they say when it comes to logging miles BMW tourers are the king of them all

they can go up to 200k miles without any major work(i guess that would be around 75k in india)

and today found out that my friends driver who owns a splendor for last 12 years has done about 180k kms on it

And i agree with whymail,
If you keep a bike well maintained it will clock years(instead of kilometres) with you.

40000 kms & counting. This will remain, 'hoping to touch the benchmark set by whymail but in much more time (especially now that the petrol prices are sky high).
