    To do:
Replace fork oil. Valve clearance adjustment. Do something about the discolouration of exhaust kit. If time permits, re-sand and powder coat the alloys again as I didn't quite like the finish of the alloys that I'd received.

Feel free to input any thoughts, and whether I missed out on anything important.

      Thanks for approving this.

PS: First 50 km test drive after restoration. Feels smooth as butter. I wouldn't say it's better than new; but it's pretty darn close. I couldn't test top speeds; yet to find a decent 'uninhabited' road, and am too lazy to ride it to a race track. Perhaps soon. But I'm sure it'd perform better than the condition it was in a few months back.

And yes, it's quite an attention magnet. I guess people were more surprised because it's an old vehicle (num plate). Towards the end, just feels good getting back the bike I remember; and was worth the four months of work (mostly waiting!).

I too had a black R15v1, right from the first lot of bikes. Had to cry and beg a lot for the bike back then. My first personal bike it was. Unfortunately had to part way due to unavoidable circumstances. Good to see you restoring the bike and it performing above expectations.

Ah the first lot, those were the golden days. Just three models- This one, the black one with the golden R15 sticker on the fairing, and the blue one. I can't seem to remember what fairing the blue one had back then..

Yea, clean fairings they had. Blue one had R15 written in white and it was truly blue, now like today's which is almost white.
Back then, this bike was a head turner. I used to feel like a superstar
Now I ride a FZ-16, but still remember the days when i used to ride this beauty. First bike always has a special place in your heart.

Well said! Kinda sums up the secondary reason for this restoration! People ask me why I don't replace it with one of the better bikes available today. Those people are dead.

Good job there mate! I understand the special place. No other will feel the same.
My 2008 bike also had a similar unused phase and needed cosmetic and minor mechanical restoration.
Both brakes gone, loose tappets, over heating engine, swingarm creaky, chain set, tyres, alloys, all worn out.

This is how the bike looks now and I ride it daily!

P.S. I was not happy with the alloys color too. Got it done to a lighter gold to look more like the R1.

Like the saying, Too many cooks spoils the broth, and that 's what happening today in the bike market new models entering every now and then just disappearing, good to see that you restored it and gave the bike new life.

That looks pretty darn good! The light gold alloys definitely go well with the black v1. And the titanium grabrails- holy s**t! Those look stunning. Is that powder coated? Where did you get that done from?

I think I remember seeing your maroon one in one of the design threads. You had your daughter's name stickered in Japanese, sorry if I'm wrong. Would love to see what the new paintjob looks like.

Glad you liked it. The pic was taken before the alloys were painted light gold. It was gaudy before that as you might notice in the pic.
The grabrails are regular paint, but the shade was my painter's idea. He thought black was too boring!
He even painted the billet aluminium accessories in the same color.
Powder coating was tried on the silencer pipe, but it flaked off.
Finally covered with A150&RTR silencer covers.

Those look unbelievable for regular paint. Hat's off to the paintjob! That was about three years back wasn't it? Has the paint flaked off at the rails?

Thanks for letting me know about powder coating the silencer pipe. Was almost considering getting that done. There really isn't any alternative to that, is there?
