Re: Extended Warranty - Really Genuine or Money Making Scheme??
Thanks for the input, I have my friends booklet who owns R15. But, since you have purchased a bike recently and the input I got from Area Manager of IYM was that, the new booklet has been updated and there is no mention of clutch plates in it. Looks like they haven't changed it and been giving the same booklet to customers.Originally posted by Ankey View Post

I always thought Honda was the one to do these types of mistakes. Never thought Yamaha would be so careless.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostThanks for the input, I have my friends booklet who owns R15. Re: Extended Warranty - Really Genuine or Money Making Scheme??
With Hero I did not even opt for it, it was given by default. The salesman was a cheat. He knew that I had a hard time finding the bike as it was of a rare colour. So he gave me one number and asked me to pay it. That included a bunch of unnecessary charges, extended warranty, a stupid 'loyalty' program and 2K in 'Other' charges. But this I came to know only after the purchase when I insisted and got a computer printed hard cody of the invoice.
Worst part is I think now the extended warranty is not valid anymore as I missed my last free service by 20 days and it had to be done as a paid service from my pocket.

Even if they are at fault, they will simply put their hands up and cover up for it by simply faking a reason which isn't valid at all.Originally posted by sarkartheruler View PostWith Hero I did not even opt for it, it was given by default. Interesting thread. You can take them to court if you have the time and will power. If all your services are in order and if the clutch parts are indeed mentioned in the booklet for extended warranty, file a case of misrepresentation in the consumer court along with one for mental anguish caused. These things cost money. If you win you can also claim for legal fees from them IYM.

Agree to what you have said. But, we know how our system is and even the company is aware about it. So, they are least bothered about it and take customers for a ride. I did tell them that, you are at fault and I can file a case for it, to which their reply was "yes you can, but we are sorry for the mistake" (this was told by the regional manager and SVC manager). So, you can understand how serious they are about such warranty thing.Originally posted by cruizer13 View PostInteresting thread. You can take them to court if you have the time and will power. No , don't blame the system. It is what it is. It takes time but it works and if you have a genuine case I suggest you go for it. I don't know the process but I guess you approach the consumer forum and pay the charges and submit your relevant papers and they will take it up from there. You don't have to do anything beyond that. The forum will intimate you when the case is up for hearing. If you think you have a chance, go for it. These companies and SVCs bank on people just letting go because of lack of time or will power, hence the apathy. My FIL had filed a case against a national bank 2 years ago for bouncing his demand draft of one lakh.he had filed a case for 30 lakhs in damages and won the case!! The bank now wants to negotiate.. What I'm trying to tell you is that the system works if you have the staying power.

And by the way, once you file the case, send a copy to Yamaha and another to the SVC. Maybe they will sing a different tune.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI had actually planned to do it. But, every single person is singing a different tune. The regional manager and SVC manager says, "Since it comes under normal wear and tear part, it cannot be replaced for free". IYM call centre tells me that, "it will be replaced free of cost and you don't have to pay a single penny". When i had purchased the bike (Feb-12), the sales guy told me "All the parts mentioned in the booklet will be covered free of cost".Originally posted by cruizer13 View PostAnd by the way, once you file the case, send a copy to Yamaha and another to the SVC. If you look at the picture attached at start of thread, you will see that many parts mentioned generally come under wear and tear.
