Bangalore. My god. I cone from Chennai and every useless cop stops me. Every single one. No matter time of day, location or speed. And harass.

One cops seized my bike and threatened to beat me with a lathi unless I paid him 4k, called parents and they cane from Chennai to sort it out. Really the worst state I have been to on two wheels.

i have been held many a times for racing while going to work. yes i felt bad and i know why they holding me for the reason some stupid guys have given the whole bunch this image.
my advise : unless needed don't keep the cam on the lid. i run in city with the mounts on helmet. just keeping the cam in bag. police is ignorant. it will take years for them to reach where other countries are and to understand what an adventure camera is. safety is in our hand.Leave a comment:

Though I am never in a hurry to taint all policemen of same type due to some/many/several such incidents, but again it doesnt stops them from getting the crown of "One fish makes the whole pond dirty". And moreover asking from me where in the RTO rule this rule is written can you please provide a rule where it is written that "You cant equip the vehicle with camera."
Would be quite helpful if you dig out any rule.
But yes to don't support this rule with metro-rail rules because there it is strictly written not to record videos and snap photographs inside metro premises and inside metro rail.
Road and metro is 2 different things.

Though I admit they are nuisance sometimes, it is prejudice which makes us paint all police the same- you have no absolutely no idea the kind of work hassles they go through. Legally speaking can you show me where in RTO act does it permit one to equip a motorcycle with a recording device and use it on the streets? Mumbai and most of south India cities have treated North Indians in the same way (personal experience) and honestly Sumit, its nothing but harrasment by "so called" khakee wearers.
I have become rude to almost all these people. If they say that they are going to take me away, I generally say that the cam is still recording their voice and the way they are harrasing us. If I dont sell it to "terrorist", I will definitely sell it to the media and making sure that the name badge and face is clear enough to get them suspended. Thanks to these type of idiiots I have lost all faith in their department.Leave a comment:

Dude, I would suggest you keep your Gopro recording away for a while. These could be intolerable for us but there are some security concerns in major metros recently and tech gadgets like these should be avoided if a policeman objects. (usually they don't object but when they do be careful)
On an aside, I think the police guys have a point, legally speaking- just because there is no law in carrying a video camera on a vehicle that too a bike, one shouldn't assume it is legal. This is left to interpretation and when it comes to that the interpretation of Police is what stands unless challenged in court.Leave a comment:

Why do other state people get treated as if they are Terrorists and not Indian citizens? Is this considered as Racism?? I have faced such situations myself though not with a camera or gopros.. but because I was pushing my bike on the wrong side (all the way on the right) as tank was empty.. I am from Chennai and this happened in Noida.. Just because I didn't know Hindi (when I was new to Delhi NCR), I was harassed.. Thankfully, one of my colleagues came to my rescue and helped me out.. I am an Indian.. not an Alien..
Now coming to the topic, I don't think or ever heard of cams or gopros being banned unless like what the monk has said.. there are no restrictions to record a video or click pics unless it is mentioned "Photography is PROHIBITED"Leave a comment:

I don't know if this section of xBhp is suitable to post or not. So I'd like mods to please shift the thread to other section if it does not belong here.
What bought me here is the "HELP ME!" Tag.
Seriously I'm very much fed up of Mumbai Police and their logic's.
Being a Delhi / Ghaziabad Wala & Having a Pulsar 220 (always suspect) Black color with with a UP14 Registration (Foreigner) is a serious crime in Mumbai. They treat me like I'm a Foreigner / Terrorist & it is their land. Sometimes, the argue go real bad when they do not care that I have all the papers, safety gears but what they don't like is I'm from Delhi, I speak Hindi which is Delhi Language for them and I should not open my mouth because this is not Delhi.
They continue speaking in their mother tongue Marathi, even after telling them that I do not understand it.
Keeping all the headaches and incidents away where I've been threaten to put up in Jail for 15 days or where I had to pay 500 / 1000 bucks because of the situation.
Or where I paid 16rs because that's all I had in wallet Or where I was continuously forced to agree that I'm a racer.

Incident 1 :
Gorai, Mumbai :
After checking all papers, the topic changed to my GoPro. Within several minutes they started saying why am I recording, whether I sell these videos to terrorists.
They started using bad words in their language, which I understand a bit and argued back.
That was the biggest crime ever.
Then I was threatened that they will call ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad) and I will be behind bars.
Tension & argue around. I left the place. Topic ends.
Incident 2 :
Andheri, Mumbai :
I was riding a testbike of Triumph StreetTriple 675 & was stopped at a checking point (Naka-bandi they call it).
After confusing with the Bike looks, price and why the headlight is On. They started asking me about GoPro (Which was switched off, without memory card).
They started talking whether they should take me to court or police station.
They demanded me for the Chip (Memory card), my luck which I did not had. Class-10 64Gb ain't that cheap. :P
Every single from 2 start to a hawaldar (total 8) was asking for the complete details and why I do it.
Then I was accused of working with Google & other big companies. I record for them and I sell them. So I should either go Court or Pay them a good amount out of my income.
Somehow after 15 min. I escaped.
There were times where I was threatened to put behind bars because I had a DSLR in hand or in bag. And taking photographs is not allowed.

Is GoPro Illegal in India ?
Using it on helmet, chest mount or bike is Illegal / not allowed ?
I know helmet could be very easy to catch but they poke even if its mounted on Bike.
Recording a video or taking a photograph is so illegal in Mumbai/ India ?
