I can beat you all with my incident. This happened few weeks back. I was on my bike going home through a small local road after dropping a friend at his place at about 8 pm. So there was a S shaped turn. And i have to say i have a free flow exhaust. That's wrong in my side. Even with the noise killer, its louder than normal. So cops were waiting for me at the other side of the corner. They stopped me. I had my helmet on. It was a sparx and had a skull picture on the side. So the constable after removing my key asked me to go to the bolero where some other police men were there. So they started scaring me with claims like they are gonna charge me with public nuisance and all. So I asked them politely not to do it and let me go as I was waiting for my visa to go abroad and a case would ruin my future. So i pretty much begged as at that time that was the only option coz i knew i was wrond to make noise during late hours. Then one cop asked me if i am drunk. Since i had cut my leg earlier that day i was limping. So i told them no its because of the cut and not because i was drunk.

Now comes the best part. One cop then said " dont you drink? Oh only men drink. You are not a man."
So he was pretty much asking me to start drinking to become a man.

Hows that???

I have treated everyone just like a normal human being, no matter from where that person belongs.

Regarding police, I seriously dont give a damn! I am vocal about my thoughts and will remain like that even if disagreeing with them leads me to legal issues.
If I know I have not done anything wrong, I will stand to my words.

P.S. : Thanks for the vlog idea, as I am entering vlogging word, I will try to showcase the problems that we (bikers) go through

Yes, I would say sorry and will not argue in such prohibited area.
But most of the time it was on Highway and roads only.

People can record via mobile too if there is seriously some bad intuitions in mind.
When I'm not using GoPro and there is no bag with me. I simply tilt up the angle to sky, so less visible and no chance of recording, yet they stopped me.


Mumbai police does not have an active facebook page even.
And if I go reporting something personally. I know I will have to face something again.
But yes now I will record for sure, one way or the other.

Believe me, Both of the incidents posted by me are not even complete. The kind of behavior and comments they pass is all because I belong to Delhi.
I've edited them to a bit better version to not to hurt any feelings of any Maharashtra'ian friend here.

Sometimes, I do get that feeling "Okay, lets go to Jail or court. Put me behind bars. Call my family and I will tell all the story in court." But they are the Law Forcing people, All they have to add is :
We tried to stop him, while he started running away after abusing us OR We got weed/ knife/ blah blah shit from his bag.

They can go to any limit to prove themselves right.

In most of the cases in 2.5 years, I've always seen the low profile hawaldar and 2-star getting superior to their Ego level. While few good high ranked officers left me after checking papers and talking to me for 2-5 minutes.

I'm not a Terrorist, nor do I look like one.
I'm 24 and I hardly look like a normal college guy of 23-24. Not physically big or weird I mean. Still they have their grudges on me for having a Foreign License (Ghaziabad, U.P.) and accent (tone of Hindi).

There was a time when I was thinking of starting my own channel / blog for sharing all the incidents. But, I never started.
I don't know maybe I'm a bit lazy or my poor English or the fear of headache I will get after people would start judging me on their own.


But now every time I go into an argue with them, My limit to speak and argue increases because all of the earlier frustration starts to hit inside my brain. And maybe one day, You'll see me live on some TV or newspaper or somewhere for something.

If you are talking about restricted and protected areas such as Defense institutions and vital installations, it is the Government's and its respective department's obligation to mark such installations clearly and put signs indicating photography is prohibited. In case of a restricted zone, there has to be clear marking of where the said zone starts and where it ends.

In this case the gentleman in question is not in any of these restricted and protected areas, he is travelling on a public road where there are thousand of people with smart phones in their pockets who can take hours worth of footage. So where is the question of him having violated any law.

Any cop saying you cannot use a camera in your car or on your person without the force of the requisite law is violating your fundamental rights as enshrined under Constitution of India. In fact at least 2 of the 8 fundamental rights were violated in this case; 1. Right to Freedom and 2. Right to Equality. The whole thing stinks of racism and extortion. Can't believe what we do to our own people, if it was gora they would be grooving to him and bending backward to accommodate him. We point fingers at the west for racism, but the sad thing is that we don't even value the fundamental rights of our fellow country men.

I agree.. rather we all here will agree about the sensitive areas restriction.. but isn't there a way of communicating it to the public instead of passing comments like "Terrorist" and threatening us saying we will be put behind bars!! We have to agree on this.. We are just Bikers with the passion who record and click for the lovely memories... I don't think that is illegal..

and yes, you are right.. we have to be cautious as they will do anything to show their power..

That is true, but, there are places that are a sensitive areas and due to security concerns cameras are not allowed in these places. Since you may not no whether camera is allowed at a specific place or not, it is better to be cautious than raising the ire of police.

Show me the law that says that I cannot have a camera on my vehicle or on my person. Under which law does the police get its power to say and make having these cameras on my vehicle or person illegal? The police does not get its power through arbitrariness, there has to be a law passed by the legislative arm for it to have the power to make the said matter illegal. As long as there is no law explicitly prohibiting such practices, the police have no business telling me what to do or not do.

This thread couldn't have come at a better time! My gopro will arrive in few days, I am planning to shoot extensively during weekends for my Youtube channel content. Glad to know that it is not illegal to shoot in public. I have been questioned quiet a few times while I go for photo walks with my DSLR, best way to not have an argument is to prove them that you are not some media group trying to spy on anyone, showing the content helped me few times, but showing videos of riding will get you into trouble I guess, speed limit in some areas are like 20km/hr.

These policemen are more nuisance to common people than to actual criminals, that is why nobody respects them. There is no prohibition on using go pro as far as it is not a camera prohibited area. I have lost faith in police department, I was once stopped for wearing knee guards and using a Mercury tinted visor on my helmet, The 'Thulla' (locally called so) demanded a bribe of 200INR which I never paid and argued with him and got away.

Tell your local friend (who can speak local language, same city registered bike) to put on GoPro and see if he is being caught. I am very sure he will not be caught. This is pure case of harassment and nothing else.

Incase you would have been a foreigner (American, Britisher etc.), they would have clicked pictures with you, would have happily smiled and let you go for same thing.

I remember a friend of mine was assaulted for no reason for posting such stuff online oin social websites.. he was stopped despite of using helmet. the entire conversation was recorded where the cop was asking for bribe.. my friend said he is ready to pay the fine in court and that cop lost my friend's Driving License.. the recording didn't do of much help..

i agree on this part.. these days even HYD police is active on FB and you should post such stuff on their public page as if they get bombarded on public forum for such stupid stuff they do. they will understand where they are heading. make sure you keep the names of them "stupid constables" handy..

on a side note : please create a new account and do it. sometimes repercussion can happen. this is india.. safety first..

Next time, get the whole thing recorded and put it on youtube or facebook. If the police are on social media, alert them too (Don't know about Mumbai, but Bangalore Traffic & L&O commissioners are active on facebook and twitter and reply too).
