  • [Photo Feature]: Industrial Visit with my students to Bajaj Chakan Plant (Pune).

NOTE:Visit to Bajaj's Plant in Chakan.[/MENTION] in person too.

On 16th December, 2013, middle of the tour, I was in Esselworld with my kids(students), just recovering from a hellishly scary ride saying to myself, "What a ride!". Suddenly, the phone rang. Unknown number. A very polite sir on the other side firstly confirmed our Bajaj Auto visit! Then the same sir asked me when we could arrive, but due to tour operators not being present, I had no idea what time to confirm. And he said that, we can come at any time, and they'll be waiting... I almost felt humble, it was that polite a communication. I thanked sir and then, decided the visit with the tour operators. Another industrial visit got canceled in pursuit of BAL, but I was really happy after this call, because Bajaj is what I wanted to see.

So bikers, sit tight with patience, as I introduce you to why this industrial visit took me to a past memory too...
    ----------

About Chakan Plant: Guys, Bajaj has 3 major locations in MH:

Waluj, Aurangabad, which only manufactures Platina, Discover range of bikes & the 3 wheelers,
Akurdi, Pune, which is like their corporate office and R&D Center,
Chakan, Pune, the plant which produces or assembles Duke, Pulsar, Avenger, etc. and will also produce the RC series of bikes, and this is the one we visited.

Chakan plant is strategically located there, as most suppliers of Bajaj are within 10 kms radius, like Minda, Makino, Badve, etc. The Chakan plant is a lush green campus spread over a 190 acre area, out of which only 40 acres have been used till now.

    Navigation inside the plant:

Guys, one more thing I forgot to mention. Bajaj doesn't have excessive emphasis on business class formality.
Some staff people have T-shirts with Bajaj Logo, as their uniform which is great because to some extent it doesn't bring lethargy, monotony or a tiring feeling over long hours or work.
And, I agree with this philosophy. Your work & its efficiency should count, not what you wear. Presentation is important, but not more than performance & efficiency.

If anyone has any question, do post it, I'll try my best to answer it.

Yeah, since that visit, it took lot of time asking for permission to write this on Xbhp. However, their email ID is probably not working with attachments, or something (?).

Indian it surely is, buddy. Bajaj is serious about value, quality and performance, it was obvious from the boards and signs placed all through the plant.
Do you know the idea, that I was going to share with them over the email (as mentioned in the original post)? It was regarding a T shirt.
I suggested them a T shirt for staff or press meetings. It might resemble a flag, but its actually just 3 logos of the 3 companies associated together.... And look what logical combination it makes. Bajaj is at the core, the heart, and it connects the two giants, KTM & Kawasaki.
