And nope, I'm not paying the tax either. Paid 3.5K when I bought the bike 8 years back, costs 7K for tax AFTER DEPRECICATION ... No effing way I'm paying up !!!

Lol. Even I haven't been caught by the RTO, once by traffic cop who wanted his chai money, which i declined to give and he went about his way searching someone else, that was at Jayanagar though.
Now shifted work back to HSR and yes, it's like daily checks happening, it kinda sucks. But I am using the frigging BMTC now (as if RTO harassment was not enough , now have to make do with the BMTC employees stinking attitude too).

Even I will have to cough up 2 times the tax I paid when I bought the bike, after depreciation. Not gonna happen any time soon.

No need, ride the bike ! Don't get caught, they have a specific pattern of catching people, once you figure it out (after getting caught a few times) you should not have any issues.

I too never faced any such issues during my 4 yr stay in Kerala. I found the police to be courtious and well-mannered there.

In Hyderabad, major issues for outside vehicles. Again in Mumbai, no problem faced till data, touchwood...

OT, I used to call Kerala my second home! And look at the co-incidence, my younger brother is now settled in Kerala.

It will hardly take two minutes of your precious time. Also it would be helpful if you can spread the words among your friends and family to support the campaign and sign the petition.

Thank you everyone for your support

When I started this discussion, more than 58K people had signed the petition and now more than 71K people have signed. The number is growing and people are getting awareness about this campaign.

The Karnataka governments amendment of the law was put on stay by the HC as they do not have any legal right to do so , also sighted the notion of charging life time tax for temporary stay is not logical.
The govt did go for a SC appeal, which recently held the HC ruling to be in the best interest.

Centralised Road tax was proposed recently , but it'll take time for it to be in effect i guess.

                    Cheers
