^ Ravi, that problem is there with all the P220 owners...
I also end up riding with Niranjan who has a P220 and Ritwik who has a P200...so for their thirst for more speed they usually cruises at 100 - 110+ km/hr. so as to match upto them i also ride at speeds in 95 - 100km/hr.

Hahaha! I agree with you...maybe its something about his bike...the only time he was a bit slower was when I was riding his bike!

          my 2 cents

any 150 cc bike is good enough to tour between 80-90 , just keep changing oil in 2000-2500 kms if you keep on touring regularly.

I have always felt the best speed to tour on indian roads is between 80-95 .This would require minimum hard braking ,max control and shorter stopping distance , good pick up response for overtakes , best mileage possible, minimum vibes.

A couple of things I would advise for touring are -

1.Ride near the rpm (a little lower) where you get peak torque , this helps in easy overtaking and helps you in tight situations.

2.If you ride at peak torque rpm , you will get max mileage for highest speed. If you increase speed any further the mileage will drop down.

You should ride at what style is comfortable to you, don't change ur riding style for someone else. Its much safer that way!

Its the responsibility of the person who's ripping to slow down at times for the slower people to catch up!

Before I used to ride above 100kmph and I enjoyed it. After all these years, as I have become uncle, I am settling towards matured riding, feeling most comfortable at 80-100kmph. But, in open stretches, I do keep the speedo just above 100kmph.

Of course, I will never change my style of riding if I am not comfortable, at some places, catching the p220.

mera naam badnaam kar raha hai? forgot those days when I had a little P150 and how you all made me suffer...and me used to ride the wheels off that beautiful machine to keep up with you guys

Anyway, I dont ride fast nowadays...dont remember the last time that I exceeded 105
And yes, niks, you are right...80-90 is the speed to cruise on...lots of reserve power at that speed and the current crop of Indian bikes are really comfortable doing these speeds.

You are forgetting me n Shiva on full throttle, but I guess you havnt seen any of us two, ripping to our limits!
But here its a question of safe n comfy riding, chal maaf kiya!

@NV: I remember, On Amby Vally, Christmas g2g... You were ahead while me n Shiva were tailing you @ 110+ (on speedo) on 2-3 stretches. So you still was at minimum of 110 kmph including our speedo errors n all.

Me cruise @90-105km/hr on my xtreme.Only if i touch 110km/hr this GRRRR.. sound comes that too only mildly after 110 no grr..sound.
After changing to fully synthetic the bike feels stress free even @ 120km/hr.
but i keep it between 90-105km/hr.And i take a long break every 90kms.
Engine doesnt get very HOT even after 80kms of riding @100km/hr.
I guess its the synthetic oil .Overtaking too has become much safer.
Just today a politician pig on a scorpio scolded me for speeding.

The ideal riding speed depends on a lot of variables.

                                1. The Great Indian Cow
                                2. The Confused Street Dog.
                                3. Posers cutting across.
                                4. Density of Qualis/Scorpio waallahs
                                5. Aunty Jis keeping a steadfast 40kmph in a maruti on the high speed lane.
                                6. Doodhwaalas drifting lanes. (Manan knows all too well )
                                7. Tractors reversing/cutting/stalling everywhere (I know too well )
                                8. Wise cracks crossing the road, at the middle of the road and giving us a pass via a hand gesture.

                                Naah.. This list is endless
