Good thinking but point system feels contrary to the basic spirit of riding. I ride for fun. I ride for independece. I ride for leaving the world behind. Most importantly, I ride for the joy of riding. Anything that bounds me, like a point system/large group etc will make me move away from that very thing. So, point system does not make much sense to me. Anyways, what is the objective of point system? Is it to certify who is the "best" tourer? Actually, I do not really care if my fellow rider is the "best" or has accumulated 1,33,776 points as long as he is fun to ride with. In the same way, I dont really care if somebody quantifies my riding on basis of points. I ride for myself, not some points to be shown off.
On the other hand, a tour calender looks fine. If someone prefer riding alone, s/he can choose not to update the calender. If some people would like to ride in a group of 5, they can put in an entry and later remove if the participants reach the desired number.
But then, whats the point? If I want company, I can always go to Mumbai G2G page and post my schedule. Also, more often than not, riders usually have an existing group they are comfortable and compatible with. If somebody would like to join that group, s/he can always ask...
