  • The motorcyclist in me is awake again.

"It was 7.30 pm this evening when I was reading some text regarding the naxalism in India, how Indian Army should not be used to tackle the naxal problem in affected states and how the local police are so crucial to do the needful.

Sheh hyper. I had expected better of you!

                      True. And False.

About 3 weeks ago, we had to make a family trip to a gurudwara about 400 km away. I went by my bike, with my parents following in the Fabia. I could have easily chosen to travel in the car with them, but I chose to do my own thing. So, I dont really think I'd dispense away the services of my bike so soon.

Lets rewind to 20077 years . I learnt motorcycling. Absolutely loved it. Hated cars. In 2009 I moved to college in Delhi, my bike got sold in my absence, and was without a bike for 5 years. Mid 2014, I returned home, and was taught how to drive a car, because there was stuff to be done, and we had no bike. Now after driving around for 2 years, my hatred has subsided considerably, thanks to me encountering the "other side" So maybe this post is a knee jerk reaction that a spoilt brat(read car driver) gets after being sent to an army school(the world of motorcycling)

Its been just 2 months since I bought a bike, and I have just about 700 KM on it. But in the next 3 years, it will be my sole means of transport, and I'll be relocating back to Delhi. So maybe after 3 years, you'd see a post from me saying "**** cars".

I have simply not given myself enough time on the saddle right now(apart from that 400 km trip).

Also I had saved my allowance throughout my college life to buy a bike. Yes. To buy a bike, not a car. So maybe thats an inclination of where the heart lies. But the mind, well, thats an entirely different equation, isnt it?

PS: The only advantage I see the cages have over us motorcyclists is the ability to sleep in the car. Gosh look at the amount of money I'd save in hotel expenses. You can argue that I'd spend more on fuel too, but I'd dispute that considering my AS200 gives just about 25 and it loses about 10% coolant for every 100km. So i'm talking of a refill every 1000 km. And thats crazy expensive running cost.

There are some other minor niggles too, but I feel they are best discussed in the ownership threads.

PPS: I have a Leh ride planned this October. While taking the flight might just turn out to be cheaper, I've decided to go by my own bike, for the journey and for the experience. If that doesnt make a biker, well, I'd rather be a cager, they're more accommodating and less demanding. (lol jk)

TL;DR : Opinion might change with time.
