    People who rode UGII, find UGIIIs not that exciting, because due to the heavier wheels, manuvering the bike at low speeds again became an issue. And also some of my friends say that pickup of UGIII have also gone down as compared to UGII!!
    I feel UGIII does not exhibit that top-heavy feeling of the first generation Pulsars at very low speed. If you have ridden a classic pulsar you will know what I am talking about. The classic pulsar is difficult to maneuver in stop and go traffic as it takes more energy from the rider to balance the bike. If you have a pillion at the back, this characteristic can be felt quite clearly.
    The UGIII is much easier to ride in stop and go traffic.

    Maybe the wider rear tyre ensures greater balance. Or maybe the smaller rims bring down the center of gravity and reduce the top heavy feeling. Or maybe as you said, the longer swingarm helps.

    But once the speed increases moderately, the classic rocks! The shorter swing arm and slimmer tyres compared to UGIII ensures sharper handling. Maybe that is why some people find UGIII boring.

    Also, I love the power delivery characteristics of the classic Pulsar compared to UGIII. The UGIII, IMO sacrifices top end power for better low end torque. So, the top end rush is not as satisfying. Maybe, some people find that boring - I certainly do!

      @abhijit

      Rightly said bro.....

      The main modifications in the UGIII as compared to the classic pulsar were done to -

      1) Improve the efficiency of the bike, by implementing the "DTS-i" and Exhaust-Tech

      2) Make the bike more sporty by reducing the seating height and sporty fairing and fatter rear tyres for better tracktion and stabilty.

      This overall even though made the UGIII a more good looker (again that would differe from person to person) and more efficient, both environmentally and fuel wise.... but also made the machine more suave!!

      You ride a classic pulsar 180 and a pulsar 180 UGIII, you would immediately feel that the UGIII pulsar 180 is more suave, bringing down the thrill factor substantially. Classic Pulsar riders (having got habituated with it's grear box) swear by their machines!!

        Yeah, I agree. The older 180 engine was much more fun! Gear box is almost ok as long as you don't try to find neutral! But newer 180 is suited to city traffic conditions.

        I have a question - will fitting a wider tyre (120/80 - 18) to my P150 Classic will bring some stability during low speed stop n go traffic conditions? Rite now, its tiring to ride slowly with pillion.

          Or you can weigh 54Kgs.

          Beating a 220 or a ZMA on a 200 becomes a piece of cake.

            as rightly said by my Dear Friend Samarth, try to remove the dead weight from the vehicle.
            I have removed the Chain Guard, the front engine cowl, the kick starter and the stopper rod from my zma. apart from that, I basically dont see too much of a scope of getting rid of some extra kilos. You know how calculative these 2wheeler manufacturers are. anyways, I manage a decent 40+ average with a top speed of 138-140 kmph( as per my speedo) on my bike. guess that has to do with the weight reduction. ooops, did I forget to mention that I weigh only a few grams over half a quintal???
            Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

              Truely speaking bro..... I'm not sure about the wheel size and swing arm combination of the classic P150, because I think you need to mod the bike's swing arm to let the 120section fit in. But one thing is for sure..... having a compatible soft compound fatter rear would defenitely make your life a bliss during tight traffic. But here I would suggest instead of going for a 120 section tyre, go for the 100/90 - 18 or a 110/90 - 18 section tyre. I'm saying this, because a 120/180 - 18 section tyre would require more work from your 14PS mill because of the extra tracktion. Therefore I would suggest going for the 100/90 - 18 section or the 110/90 - 18.

                ok, thanks for the advice. maybe will go for 110/80. AFAIK 120/80 can be fitted by removing the chain cover.

                And yes, not much scope on reducing weight on the indian bikes easily.

                  Few other options

                  The changes that I tried on my first bike ..the LML energy FX was ..removing the tail grab rail,saree gaurd,chain gaurd, rear footpegs, replace end bar weights on the handles with plastic one's used on the Hunk or the CBZ x-treme. remove the knee gaurds, rearview mirrors, replace tank lock with the removable racing caps used in professional racing. guys with Bikes pulsars running on 17inch wheels can try Yamaha R15 rims - definitly lighter. remove inticators and replace with smaller ones..less weight and less battery consumption too
                  the total weight of the energy came down to 118kg from 126kg (excluding rim change). for a 110cc machine it was more than enough when it used to touch 112kmph on the speedo
                  Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

                    Nice info share there bro and that's a lot of areas touched on your bike

                    But as you have pointed out and is very true... that since the hull of ship is heavy and dragging it down into the sea, the only way we have to make it cruise forward faster and easier is my making it go light by throwing away the spoons and knifs!!

                      I also totally agree with Samarth that doing away with the dead weight would be the best option and on my P200 I see the leg guard, saree guard as the prime contenders!! Also, doing away the stock tyres can also be an option on P200s. Soft compounds are way light than the stocks.

                      I really really wonder, what does it take the Indian manufacturers to come up with a better and more powerfull engine design!! As far as I understand... a 200cc mill is easily a contender for having a twin cylinder, DOHC and 8-valve architecture!! An additional 4PS can be easily achived. All you need to put in a balancer alongside the camshaft to keep the vibes under controll and BINGO!!

                      What say??

                        UGII vs UGIII

                        I feel the same for UGIII and UGII, My Roomie has got a UGIII and I am having a UGII and i have the feeling that my bike has a better responce than UGIII,
                        also I dont find it that hard to manuver in traffic(driven in Kolkata )

                        Regarding the weight thingi I think removing the Chain cover, Sharee Gaurd and Leg gaurd will have a difference of 5-7 kilos thats it, for changing swing arm and all u need to find a good shop and a good mech(pretty diff to find the combo)

                          @csajal -

                          Just wanted to let you know that I have changed my rear tyre to Dunlop Monster 100/90 - 18. My earlier ones was Ceat Secura Zoom 100/90 -18. The new tyre is more flatter (U shaped) compared to the sharply shaped Ceat. Maybe that has increased the contact patch. Handling has improved greatly. Bike is more easily flickable through traffic. Low speed handling has improved too - I can now easily ride in stop and go traffic without loosing my balance like earlier. So better tyres help too.
