  • spark plugs for unicorn

    Hey everyone
    fresh member here
    hw u all doin
    ok
juss wanna know about copper vs iridium spark plugs
I hv been told to install a spark plug named ngk cpr 9ea-9 copper in my unicorn but i can't get it newhere
any alternative spark plug to it for extended high speed riding( or a place where i can get it near delhi ncr region)
The Automotive batteries are designed to work best in a typical short start-stop fashion.
So to increase the life of your automobile battery, blow the horn and flash the pass light in a quick start stop fashion instead of a conitnuous long horn blow or flash light continuous on!!
And obviously don't stretch the self start far too long.

      Copper?

I havent heard about copper spark plugs.

U can go for NGK Platinum or Iridium plugs.

EDIT : Just read about copper spark plugs, u can go for the same model u specified cos iridium seems unavailable as HydBiker said.

How come you are unable to get that stock plug in Delhi??? Tried Honda spares? Try the HH or Yamaha otherwise. The Hunk, CBZ Xtreme and FZ16 use the same plug.

This model does not have an Iridium plug. If you want to spend your money on it you can go for a Platinum (GPower) plug from NGK that retails for Rs 200. Stock plug's MRP is Rs 100.

          I hvn't checked in delhi
but i hv checked at all others in faridabad i.e yamaha , hero honda and tvs as well , castrol bike zone ,and all three honda stations and local spare parts markets as well.
all there replies lowered my confidence to check it out in delhi
but now i will be goin to delhi malwa honda and plz if u cn tell me the exact place where that spark plug or ngk gpower(is it 100% compatible wid uni if yes den which model of gpower platinum or iridium)will be available .
One more thing i was expecting from my query's replies is that copper is the best conductor of electricity among plat. and iridium , and lifespan of iridium does not matter to me
i can change a copper spark plug 100 times for its better ignition then living with single life long iridium with lower ignition efficiency.(is it true copper spark plugs are better performer den iridium?)
          thnx in advance

^^^You have got the facts a li'l fuzzy. Copper is chosen for its thermal conductivity rather than for its electrical conductivity. If your ignition system is in shape and your bike generally in good tune, an ordinary nickel plug with a copper core will give you the best performance. Iridium, et all, is good at sparking in adverse conditions... which may not be applicable for you at all. IMO, stick to your stock plug for best performance and save your bucks.

              @racoon
you mean expensive spark plugs increase performance but not applicable to me ?
              m confused . . .. .
M looking for performance gain without hurting my mileage at all. But if mileage also improves then its a bonus for me .
Cost of the spark plug is no barrier till 400-500 bucks , but i want to squeeze maximum juice out of my engine.(so plz finally suggest the best spark plug for my uni and the plug be easily available in delhi atleast)
nd has ne1 ne knowledge about filtration capability of k&n filters ?
Do they suck more air with lesser dust den stock filters?
              thnx in advance again

There are no straight answers for most things. As for rare metal spark plug increasing performance, its possible in some engines. Anyway, those engines are not in question here.

For your stock Unicorn, I would again suggest the stock NGK nickel plug. And what can be more easily available than a stock plug? Get it from Honda ASS or NGK authorised dealer. Compare the prices if you want... you may get it cheaper at an NGK dealer.

Fancy spark plugs/coils/wires/et all will really not help in anything except lightening your pocket... and may actually be detrimental.

K&N very likely will not be as good at filtering than your stock filter. AFAIK, K&N do not even disclose this data... at least when I last looked. If this is true, then you are looking at shorter engine life. I really would not recommend them at all.

But in case you really want to give it a try, you would need to upjet too... else you will be running lean. Jetting is not straightforward. I do not have practical experience with this. Someone who has actually tried this on a Uni can help you better.

well thnx a lot racoon for dat advice( i was always in a doubt for k&n filters n on other side i was irresistible towards their horsepower gain statistics but nw i won't giv a damm to my engine's life)
but one more thing for the hydbiker and You(racoon)
hydbiker has mentioned a ngk platinum gpower spark plug
will it be better then stock ngk cpr9ea-9 or equivalent to it for uni's engine.

Well, I have reason to think it (G Power) won't be better. As I said earlier, the OEM plug will be best for you. Platinum lasts longer and can be useful in some cases... like where the ignition system is weak, etc.

There is one distinct advantage of G power... but its just for people who don't want to spend time on their bikes. The G Power will maintain its gap for for longer and so will work better for those people who just don't want to think of their plug for a long time once they shove it in. But this advantage can come with other possible disadvantages...

i think the website is not updated
there is a spark plug cpr9ea-9 for uni which is not mentioned under conventional spark plugs category.
Similarly there could be a cpr9eagp-9 gpower spark plug available for unicorn and not mentioned there.
Similarly there could be an iridium spark plug made available recently for uni but is not updated at that website.(luks like a joke bt m serious)
So my question is , does ne1 hv up-to-date knowledge of best spark plug available for unicorn (for better acceleration ) ?
                              m going to buy 1 in2-3 days . . . ..
                              my current choice is cpr9ea-9 . . . ..
                              ne 1 plzzzzzzzz! ! ! ! !
