  • My Tuned R15 - V-Box results!

Finally we managed to do a proper V-Box test on my Street Tuned Yamaha YZF-R15 as part of a magazine shoot out(Read - AutoTrack - July edition).
We went on an early morning ride with a few of our long lost xbhp members to Nandi Hills.
After a few poses for the magazine and cornering antics at the hill for the article, we came down to thrash the hell out of the bike for some data logging. We hit my normal testing spot and strapped the V-Box data logger on the bike. Just before this test, I was already grounding the bike at the hill to do some cornering poses and went up and down the hill some countless times. The engine was already abused for over 200kms. Filled some normal pump gas and started the test.

V-Box Test Results - With Full Stock mass & gearing,
    My R15
    0-60kph - 3.5secs
    0-100kph - 9.5secs
    0-400mtrs - 16.53secs
    450mtrs - 130kph

    Stock R15
    0-60kph - 4.6secs
    0-100kph - 13.65secs
    0-400mtrs - 18.5secs
    400mtrs - 114kph

More than a testing session, it was a sort of a good old xbhp g2g. Had some fun at the hill blasting an R1, my R15 and a modified Honda City Vtec on the way back.

Overall the results on my R15 were satisfying considering the fact that I have a stock ECU which is restricting a lot of parameters, was running a lean mixture, 13500kms run clutch plates and still running stock valves and injectors! The works on my engine are a little over a stage 1 spec build, and I'm planning some works as and when I find some time. There is a lot more left
From the v-box results it was very evident to us that the engine is easily making atleast 30% more power with the stock mass. Do the math, a stock R15 pumps 16bhp at the crank

For those who havent followed my build story, here is the link

Some pics of the v-box strapped.

    Cheers,

    Joel

Joel, Whats the total dry/kerb weight of your bike now? Has it increased or decreased with those mods?

The Bike weighs just as much as a stock R15, minus 3.5 kilos coz of the freeflow exhaust. I have a HID ballast and stuffs which have actually added nearly a kilo. So it all makes up
