Awesome work Joel. Just loved reading it. Your hardwork has given you the desired results. Enjoy

How many horses does it have now? did you test the topend?

btw. are you a mech engineer?

I was just reading the Zig wheels article and they say this "Zero to 60km/h came up in 3.8 seconds while zero to 100km/h was achieved in 11.1 seconds, easily besting any and every bike made in the country to smithereens".
One of my friend was telling me that I have a threat in the form of the new P220 for my R15, well I have plans of a flat 8 sec 0-100 set-up already and streetable too

@silver falcon - ya man, that was Halley's Vtec.
I'll change the cam specs and update the reliability a little later . Our karizma was running a full-race camshaft and was street reliable. ofcourse its only easy to say that

@Grafix - The R15 performance kit from Yamaha will surely give you a super 0.5bhp gain or max 1bhp and you better spend a few solid grands

        @bhargava - Thanks man.

@Kowkfist - Well the next set of mods will be a surprise

@santoosh - Rishi, Rishi 2, navin, halley, ashwin made it. It was good man, after some 3 yrs we hit that patch again.

@chicane - Didnt pit my bike with the city, coz the city was quite fast with 3 people on board. My bike was the slowest in the pack. What man, an R6, R1 and 2 souped Vtecs...I was riding a souped-up moped only . I hit my rev-limiter in 6th @ 149kph and then the R1 left me standing still

I don't think so. Your acc + top speed figures are still way ahead even for the new 220. Also, figures will be seen + proved on the road for the new 220.

Yup, with Varad riding the P220 if it clocks 100 in 11 odd secs, thats still almost 2 secs slower than my R15 and the engine is 70cc lesser.

^It was very windy. Had a lot of head winds, coz it was around 11am. I was keeping my fingers crossed and the road has a slight incline as well after some 300mtrs. Thats where I test my Drag Fiero as well, so wanted some reference.
The V-box might have added some 1 whole kilo. Since this is a street bike and not a drag bike, I did not bother about every gram and stuff.

The last I spoke to Halley was when he had plans to pick up a Vtec. Was the Vtec quicker in acceleration to a 100? Very few cars can do a 0-100 in 9 odd seconds. After 100 is a different story though.

Yeah, I would be most impressed if you can keep that thing reliable. Anything more than the setup now, would you be able to keep it reliable? Navnish was telling me that I should check out your bike. We will meet sometime soon, for the first time.

EDIT: Oh damn, I know that AShwin guy too. Doesn't he have a CBZ? I doubt if he would remember me though! We met a long long time ago.

Like I said, after using an engine with a full race cam profile and making it street reliable, this is also possible on the same lines. However its a task to set-it-up right. Anything more than this set-up can still be as reliable as this set-up itself, coz I know how much more room I've left for the next stage.

hey joel bhai, wat do u mean when u say that ur bike is "street reliable"??
does that mean that though you have used a Race-Cam Profile, you have tuned the R15 and improved its weak Low n Mid range to make it more user friendly on the streets???

A stock R15 rolls from 60 to 100kph in 6th gear in about 12 seconds. Mine does in 8 secs flat. I just checked this today.
i dont have a Race-cam profile yet, this is a mild camshaft.
Street reliable and street rideable are 2 different words. What you are referring to rideability and this one is way peppier than the lousy feeling stock bike at low-end revs as well.
Street reliability is termed for the overall engine reliability after the works. In traffic conditions, esp bumper to bumper, the engine temps shoot sky high and it taxes the piston rings and liner. The biggest disaster of a motor which is not tuned well is over-heating and demand for high grade fuel. Being a street engine and my daily ride, I need something which can run on the lowest grade of fuel. We all know that we dont get the best fuels and every grade that is sold is adulterated. Which means my engine has to adapt to this. I have never found the need to run even 91 octane, just run standard pump gas. No busting head gaskets, no over heating, no stress thru the revs and saturation, no performance flutters and no drop in fuel efficiency under normal riding either. The engine simply revs thru the gears and in less than a kilometre hits the rev-limiter in 6th gear in a very linear and no-nonsense manner. The speedo displays 3 digit figures in city conditions by the time I even realise.
