Now while taking the bike from 1st gear, how much do you usually have to raise the rpm before shifting to the next gear to get the maximum pickup ?!? how do we make the bike display its maximum power ?!? race it to its maximum rpm and then change gears or change the gears quickly ?

How quick should we change gears ?
I was riding my dad's 14 year old KB100 RTZ before I bought the P150 dtsi, never had a chance to race the bike beyond 60kmph...

for racing , drag purposes :
practice makes a man perfect. thats wat i hv learnt with my wheelies.
u gotta change the gear jus after the rpm where the bike developes peak power.no use over-revving the engine. also try doing power-shifting which basically means dont leave the throttle while shiftin up.this will save u fraction of a sec but is actually helpful.
also as u practice , u will urself come to know when to shift jus by listenin to the sound of the engine.
practice by changin gears at diff rpms. try findin a suitable rpm band in which to change. all da best
the bike will display its max power at the rpm it developes max power.

I think the pick up is a bit slow if I raise the bike to 6500-7000 rpm during the first three gears or probably the first two ! I dont race much, actually i dont race at all, but i wanna feel all the power that my bike can handle ! atleast once in a while ! stupid huh ?Leadership is Performance, not Personality !

what if u dont have a tacho..its all in the feel..and part from that if u are doin the drag on a open road(no one on it)then it is feasible to keep a look at the tacho..or else lots of **** can happen in a fraction of a second..ask sabby/kunal/amit he will explain it perfectly..If Speed Is A Sin Then Am Guilty Of It!!

for racing purposes , shift around the peak power rpm. for normal usage , i keep the band b/w 3500-4500rpm

For me, it's always the gut feel.
However, if You are really concerned, try getting a shift light on your bike and take away the guess-work. But of-course you'll have to find out the peak-RPM on your bike.
This is what I'm talking about - http://www.mpsracing.com/products/MPS/sl01.asp
Not sure if it is available in India, but it's not rocket science. Any electronics whiz around here??? Maybe you can even make your own.It has been established that everyone on the internet is a well-hung, millionaire Ninja

yeah right ! practice makes man perfect...! Am just a little scared to take the bike to 7k rpm during the first two gears ! it roars so much that i let go of the throttle. gosh !!! i broke my leg once in an accident, now i think twice before reving up...practice, the right word !Leadership is Performance, not Personality !
