Today I had a very intriguing day as a biker. As usual after work I went to drop off the GF at her bus pick up point but as it turned out to be her bus the shuttle to Bagmane Tech park did not turn up and I offred to drop her of to work and did have a selfish motive behind the whole ride to CV raman nagar from Jayanagar 4th block which was to visit the 100ft rd PBK and possibly get a test ride on the Fastest indian. Well the ride till CV Raman nagar was pleasant and after I dropped her off I hurried to the PBK at the end of 100ft rd and walked in there with an eager heart and mind and with child like enthusiasm approached one guy at the PBK and he was acting like he did not hear me and did not even acknowledge my presence. Well I held my patience and as I was waiting for his Royal Highness to speak with me he got a call a personal one and stayed on the call for a good 10 minutes. In the meanwhile a couple of other guys walked and and started pressing for their delivery. Guess what his Royal highness at the PBK did nt even bother about them and finally the man who was there for his delivery just lost his cool and started to yell at the PBK guy and this guy says "just wait and I will deliver your bike" and goes on with his phone call. He then finished his call and I tried to get his attention and barelly uttered the words Pulsar 220 and he just turns his back on me and walks away. Well I stayed persitent and asked again what the OTR price was to which i got a very curt reply 80,900 and just ignores me then on. I asked him If could get a test Ride and all he said was Come back in 1 hour. And rudely went about the business of delivering the XCD135 to the two other guys fair enough. I waited for him to complete his delivery formalites and go upto him again to check if he can help me with finance and a couple of other questions but he just walked past me like he was doing the world a favor by hanging out a PBK. By now I decided that this was not going anywhere and asked another lady there if I could check out some riding gloves cos I really badly needed one. To which she says "1 Hour" and turns away. Wow! Well I felt like Bajaj must be selling their bikes like hot cakes to really bother talking to a potential customer and got outta there mounted the baby beast and rode away.

It was a fun ride back on the inner ring rd where a Apache FI guy tried an aggressive overtaking manovere from the right while I was cruising at a cool 70kmph guess he really underestimated the FZ's mid range torque and I twisted me right wrist and we were level for about the next 20 mtrs and my Baby beast just broke ahead of this lil skirmsh and stayed ahead of that RTR but I guess that rider was way more fearless than me and went thru a very small gap between two cars and sped away I personally do'nt take such risks simply cos ifeel It aint worth it. Ok! to Cut a long story short - My Baby beast's chain had developed a slight slack and i figured that I would take her to Orion (Yamaha dealer) and get the chain adjusted and when I got there I parked the bike and Mr Nagendra the service supv came up to me and asked if i needed to leave the bike for service and I told him that i just needed to get my chain adjusted and voila in 2 minutes he had a mechanic assigned and had him on the Job and the Mech sugeted that I get the Chain cleaned and lubed as well and I decided that it was a good idea as I was already there in the pits and it would cost just Rs 65 and asked Mr Nagendra to have a Job card for this and went up to the accessories section on the first floor to check out some gloves, and to my surprise the lady who takes of the section recognises me and says Hi! I ve been trying to reach you your Insurance policy is ready and that I could take it. Wow really pleasant! And signed the register and collected my insurance policy. Also I picked up a pair of DSG motomaze and by the time I got downstairs they had prepared the Baby beast and the chain adjusted cleaned and lubed all in 20 minutes flat.

So what is up with bajaj Are they doing such good volumes that they dont care for potential customers any more or is that they lack the basic knowledge of customer service? Well I see new bikes flying out of Orion every time I am there and the service section is abuzz with activity which leads me to think to that Yamaha are doing great on the sales front themsleves but know how to treat a customer right. This has really put me off the idea of doing business with bajaj and especially the 100 ft rd PBK.

I dont mean this as a comparo between Bajaj and Yamaha rather a biker ranting about a bitter expeirence from one dealer and just the oposite from another all in a day and felt that I had to share it with my community here at XBHP and could nt find a thread that kinda relates to this and hence opened a new thread.

That's Sad!! Surely we are not talking about the Brand war.

Well, Customer Service is a vital key to sales... and blah blah...but how many of us really understand??

I have been with a Suzuki Dealer for almost 7 months now and the 1st thing that I changed in the entire set up after joining was Customer Handling.

Prudently...we havent been able to click too many numbers, but yes, We have changed the way people thought about Suzuki in this region.

The customer service, right from the Showroom to the Service area is Best in Class..... and I can say that its the best in the Region.

But anyways..... my point is, when some showroom does not live up to the mark, its entirely because of the senior management who is busy doing something lese then to do what they are primarily supposed to do. Write a letter to The Bajaj Company and share your experience, am sure they would pay heed.
Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

Hope someone from bajaj reads this....As for yamaha,no wonder their sales are skyrocketing...

BTW,no brand wars here. It's just that the PBK guys in b'lore need some lessons on costumer service because they are not really enthusiastic about queries from wannabe customers...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

We all have our share of such problems with Bajaj. My problems (in short) are:->

              1. Initally, I was given the bike with a painted tank, Can you believe it?? I got it replaced later though, on customer court threats ...

              2. They never service properly. Never touch the engine at all!

              3. My bike doesn't cross 105 kmph, that is after the service station guy adjusted Tappets 3 times, on persuasion.
Now, I am a customer, not a beggar. Why should I ask the same thing 4th time?

              4. Total 6 Indicators & 2 Pilot Lamps blown up during various services, and I had to pay for it!

I stress, that the bike Pulsar 180 UG3 is a great bike, despite some shortcomings. But the Service has spoiled the Experience completely.

Yea no qualms about pulsar the product. I feel the P220 DTSI is an awesome machine but with attitudes like this I am very afraid to commit to it.

I very Well agree to you my freind, there is the same kind of difference we can also see here..
The most obvious and probable reasons are that Bajaj already has a Strong hand in the market and hence they are utilising the fan following..
WE have got many die hard fans for Bajaj here,be it either 220..
                  No Offenced meant.. Plis!!

I Myself was a big fan of Bajaj and more over using a Bajaj Discover from past 3 years and 70k + kms now..

I am SICK and Tired of Bajaj, after first two free service,i never turned back towards bajaj for service a Service men trained from Bajaj does it for me now but in his own workshop,And provides and amazing expirience!

Yamaha has been a Trend Setter now,i had a recent visit to Yamaha Pro Service That is in Delhi @ Mathura Road, and its a Must say the way the guys work is Far Far Better than any other Service Center!!!

The Manager's on the top level drill down to the level of their customer's if they wish to speak to them..

                  More would be continued...

actually bajaj already gets there money from dealer, its dealers investment, may be dealer was not eager to sell high end bikes, koramangala bajaj was pretty good when i went but it was quite empty on a saturday. Yammy is good especially Orion has improved a lot i wonder why ppl complain abt em, mr. nagendra took my bike for service its pretty neat, much better than perfect riders the place i bought the bike from. I owned bajaj for 5 yrs in delhi v1 and v2 believe me none of the centers were good, they were never able to get my shocker problem resolved in v1 and v2 i got good service cuz one of my schoolmate opened a bajaj showroom

I can share my experience which is opposite to what you came across.

About 5 months ago,I faced suspension issues on my Yamaha FZ16. Both the front and back suspensions were having problems. I brought this to the company's factory outlet service center in Mumbai and they laughed it of saying its a psychological thing. Though they took the bike in, kept for two days, nothing changed. After a couple of fone calls to Yamaha I got the rear suspension changed. Post the fone calls, the service center head talks to me in a curt tone.

A few days later, I had an accident resulting in bent fork tubes. Took the bike to the nearest authorised service center. Though they worked on it, they misaligned the front forks post repair resulting in a worn out disc plate. There was also problem with the clutch cable return spring. They changed it but the clutch has gone hard now. Also the gearbox feels hard. And for some reason the engine vibrations have increased.

So i took the bike back to the factory outlet service center. They kept it for over a day and corrected the misalignment issue by only 90%. The bike still swerves to one side. They asked me to change the clutch cable in the next service and also said that though worn out, the plate will last a few more km and changing it now would be a waste of money.

I spend at least 2 saturdays a month out of my precious weekend(after 5 days of work) convincing these guys to resolve an issue and as a bonus return back with a new one. As they say, doomsday will end it all, i think me selling this bike of will end it all.

So due to the really "good" service from Yamaha mumbai, i'm now left with a bike which has, faulty suspensions, misaligned forks, an engine which has a hard gearbox, stiff clutch and vibrations which are anything unlike an FZ16.

Yea to add to it, I too have to go through the "Your highness please oblige with my bike problems and look at my bike" experience each time i go to them.

yep i own FZ now, but i still believe company should do something about service centers on building a brand name, like yamaha SMSes you for service feedback. Some ppl say u should service your own bike my point is if i do company would easily slip away with warranty terms!
