  • how to check ur motorcycle is perfectly tuned or not.

According to reliable company sources, the carburator tuning of karizma can be checked as follows...
    its a really simple procedure.
At 5000 RPM,on 3(third) gear, the speedometer reading should be 55 KMPH.at this setting,ur bike should be returning you a mileage of 47.9 kmpl, provided you change ur gears correctly, and you are in the speed range of 50-60kmph on 5th gear.
the least mileage at this setting should be 35.3 kmpl provided ur speed is in the range of 85 kmph and 120 kmph.
the worst mileage should not be less than 31.3,when u are in the city traffic, having a race with other competitors,viz- p180 dts-i and our Karizma brothers.
plus it is recommended that it will be betterif clean your air-filter yourself,by using a good Vaccum cleaner at home.the authorised service center people usually use air to blow away the dust accumulated on the paper filter of our bikes and they make it even worser by touching it with their hands smeared in grease, there by destroying their performance.

speed indicated at 5000 rpm has got nothing to do with the mixture setting.

the mixture setting CANNOT be adjusted. unless ofcourse to change the main jet etc etc. and for the hundredth time, you can adjust the idle circuit, using the screw on the left hand side of the carb, anti-clockwise equals richer IDLE mixture while clockwise equals to a leaner IDLE mixture. the idle circuit loses effect when the throttle is opened. and again, this applied to the idle circuit only.

the service centre do a decent job of cleaning the filter. probably the grease you are talking about is oil from the breather pipe which which is connected to the crank case ...

My sides are bursting with laughter. Nikhil is absolutly right on, rpm:speed ratio is a function of gearing and not carburation

i only agree with ayush regardin d filter part..to an extent though..baki carb has ntn to do wid speed at a given rpm..

"the worst mileage should not be less than 31.3,when u are in the city traffic, having a race with other competitors,viz- p180 dts-i and our Karizma brothers." -- i hv personally dropped d avg to 26-27kmpl while rippin delhi roads...

"the least mileage at this setting should be 35.3 kmpl provided ur speed is in the range of 85 kmph and 120 kmph." - 85-120 is a large band..be a bit more specific..from my personal experience , cruisin b/w 90-95 gives app 36kmpl

actually yes RPM has nothing to do wid carburator .. and like nikhil said there is a screw with which we can set our idling...

i'll be happy if my mileage rises to 32 and don't suggest me to ride it slowly and in 50-80 bands.. cause THAT'S NOT WHAT I HAVE BOUGHT THIS BIKE FOR!

still... any tips? month ends are a killer at 28-30kmpl!

                          peace.

LOL,yes the only way to look at the state of tune is checking everything as per the manual.Idle screw's role is almost negligible,it's used mainly for smooth idle and remove the initial flat spot.air mix screw helps more, till about half mark.over that, you need jetting, filter change and free flow to help.
